[PP-Peanut Post] This is Halloween, everyone hear the screams, pumpkins scream in the fear of night.

Hi! It's PEANUT!

I know, I know. Everyone is getting tired of my mom. DUH!

Now it's time for me to take over.

AND Halloween is coming up.

What are you going to be?

A vampire?

A duck?

A carrot?
{I am serious about this one. My cousin rocked it.}

Soooooo.......
I'm going to be the Mad Hatter.
I love the costume.
I love the mini hat.
I DO NOT LIKE WAITING FOR SCHOOL TO END SO I CAN WEAR IT.
I DO NOT LIKE SCHOOL, period.

But, sadly, I have to wait through another half day.
And a no-school day.
And my volleyball game day.
And a church day.
And a WHOLE school day.

HALLOWEEN IS ON A MONDAY!?!?!?!

No. Way. Jose.
How do they expect us to eat our delicious candy, stay up late at my grandma's house eating spudnuts, and then go back to a school day the very next day?!?!
WHAT?!?!
This is a total nightmare.
A. big. fat. nightmare.
AHHHHHHHH!!!!

This seriously stinks.

My husband and I were just commenting that when he was a kid, they used to get Nov 1 off every year for All Souls Day (he went to a Catholic school). My kids didn't fare so well - in fact, my 5th grader's class is in charge of the all school mass to celebrate (also at a Catholic school). So not only does he have to go to school, he has to go to church during school! No fun indeed.

My 7 year old daughter is going as a rodeo princess/cowgirl (costume is all satin in white, pink and turquoise). I don't have a hat for her yet so I need to dig in our costume stash. My son is not big into dressing up and discussed just going as a generic "army guy" where he could wear all his camo and carry his toy guns (pretty normal for him). My husband will be at work and I will just be chilling at home so no costumes for us - boring old folks!

I agree, Halloween should always be a Saturday night!!! Love your costume idea, but we need to see pictures.

Yay for Peanut posts!!

Peanut,

If you think it stinks for you, imagine how much it stinks for your teachers to have to deal with you and all your friends all hopped up on sugar.

So, Tuesday, make sure to bring your teachers some candy, as a peace offering. ;)

Definitely need to see pics of your costume! I wish Halloween were on a Saturday too.

I'm going to be a mermaid! Very excited!

My daughter and I had the same conversation about Halloween on a Monday, and she made a good effort at trying to convince me to let her stay home Tuesday. Good ... but not successful.

Sounds like a great costume. Hope you score a monster load of candy.

Yeah Peanut my kids think the same thing. They think they should have the whole week off. As their mother, I am kind of excited to have them gone the morning after Halloween. Let the teachers deal with their over-sugared tired selves. Just kidding. Halloween on a Monday should be illegal.

I agree that Halloween on a Monday sucks! But I am sure you can make the best of it! I know I will. I am going as Princess Leia and I can't wait!

Happy Halloween!

the Day After is not a holiday in Arizona??
wow--
you should move to Maine.
Bring your Mom, I have a treadmill just for her :D

What is your favorite Halloween treat? (don't say a 5lb gummy bear)

My 11 yo daughter is also going to be the Mad Hatter! Enjoy it anyway, and try not to suffer too much at school Tuesday...

I'm not creative enough for Halloween and to be honest I never really enjoyed participating, then I went and married someone who's birthday is on Halloween so I guess I better get on board! Your costume sounds fun, must have pics!

Maybe Halloween needs to adopt a similar format to Thanksgiving; 4th Friday of October?

Can't wait to see pics P-nut!

Ahhh, a guest post from the famous Peanut! How fun. Love your costume choice. :) As a teacher, WE experience the NIGHTMARE! A high substitute day! I hated the day after halloween. Worthless with all those tired, sugared-out kids who couldn't lift their heads for reading groups. Yikes! :)

I seriously think you need to petition your senator - or any senator - to bring in a law invoking a holiday if Halloween falls on a school night. How's a kid to concentrate with all that sugar coursing through their veins?

Write to your Congressman NOW.

And seriously did the candy pic have to have Reese's dead center. I am a sucker for anything Peanut....get it......anyway enjoy the candy and do me a favor:

Tell me what a spudnut is? We didn't have them in NY and certainly don't have them in TX.

Oh Peanut....coming from a teacher...I AGREE! It is going to be two very long days Monday and Tuesday!! Monday because no kid wants to be there and Tuesday because you are eating nothing but candy!!

Your costume sounds amazing! I agree that a Monday Halloween is inappropriate. By Friday, you'll be seeing double from exhaustion!
Hope you get all sorts of delicious treats. Which is your favorite?

It's rough being a kid. I feel your pain. I hope you survive Tuesday. At least you'll have a stash a treats in your backpack to get you thru.

I love your hat, but I love the shoes too! Have a fun Halloween cutie!!
