"Birdhouse In Your Soul" - TMBG

Peanut reminded me this morning. . . . .

Peanut:  Mom, your birthday is coming soon, right?
Me:  I'm pretty sure I told you twice yesterday to start shopping.
Peanut:  So, ummmmm, how old are you going to be again?  24?
Me:  Ahhhhh, it appears, you figured out who Santa is.
Peanut:  okay, so really how old are you?
Me: [doing the math . . . ] ugggg, thirty-freaking-five
Peanut:  No.    way.    seriously?!

Ya, seriously.

That was my thought as I got ready this morning as I slathered on three different promising creams that I paid way too much for.  All promising me a "youthful glow" and "firmer, tighter skin".

What's a "glow" anyway?

This year has been:

incredible
insane
challenging
amazing
roller coaster-like
character building
intense
freaking. awesome.

Some times I think back to earlier times when things seemed simpler, less complex, less stressful & less demanding.

I'll.  keep.  today.
I'll.  keep.  these.  "glow-less" wrinkles.
And
my washboard forehead.

And in a few minutes........I'll be picking Peanut up from school with "Birdhouse In Your Soul" blaring .........She'll look at  me like I'm completely ridiculous......then we will dance the whole half mile home & I'll see a smile come across her face that can pretty much RIGHT anything wrong in the world.

And I'll remember once again, that thirty five years goes by pretty freaking fast . . .  If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. [thanks Farris]

[ Birdhouse in your soul ] - be ready to dance.

Happy. Freaking. Friday.

This is so true...if we are not paying attention...we miss..a lot of the important good stuff. 35 is so young to me. I became a mom the year I turned 35. That was an important year. If your birthday is coming up it means mine is too..yikes...just a few days after you...with 7 more candles on the cake!

Mr. Bueller was a wise man. lol

Thanks for the reminder. Sometimes I feel like I'm wishing my life away, waiting for SOMETHING (haven't figured out what yet!), instead of appreciating what I have now while I have it.

Just finished watching a 2 hour "behind the movie" kind of show about FBDO. Very cool.

Smooth and glowing skin is highly overrated...I'll take my 40 years, any day. We've got it pretty good, don't we? Thanks for the reminder!

Thirty five was hard for me, but I am looking forward to eighty five. I plan to take up heroin that day. Not kidding. Most people end up addicted to something, so I am making mine good.

Happy Birthday!

I think you have to stay 34 just to keep the 4.

Happy (early) Birthday!

PS: I ran 5 miles on the treadmill tonight. Most miles I have ever run on the stupid thing (it came with our house, I didn't pay money for it unless you count the mortgage). It wasn't that bad though. I think it needs some adjustment b/c it felt like the belt would slip every so often.

I love your comment "You figured out who Santa is"!!! I'm not too far behind you... btw the way I love all your music references, I always grew up with music and loving music and concerts but as I get older sometimes I forget the joy music can bring. Thanks for the reminders!! Tomorrow I will wake up blaring something to get ready for my run!

Never forget to dance, never forget to smile, never forget to cherish each and everyone of those memories....never forget to hold on a little bit longer and love a little bit harder. I am 35, oh my, have five children, with an 8 year gap between the last two. I am starting all over, makes me feel younger:) but yet gives me a whole new outlook on life.......

Yes...what an amazing year!!!

You've had an incredible year. One, I suspect, out of many incredible years. And the reason they're incredible is because of your attitude to life. Your ability to make audacious, giant plans and follow them through. And your love for the people in your life.

Like how you remembered the character building part. I think it's over looked quite a bit. When you do something HUGE (like the treadmill run) it's OK to say to yourself that you kinda just kicked ass and put some points in the good column.
