"Everything IS Everything" - Lauryn Hill

Slept like crap last night. [which is quite normal but this was a different kind of crappy]

I've got doing to do.

I feel like I've become the girl who's actions are not backing up her words.

and.

that
is
not
the
me
I
know.

I  never did sit down and write down my goals for 2011.

2011 [all 19 days of it] has proven to be one of the busiest months, in my life.

So today.  I.  am. goal.  writing.

Everything from:

mom
church
daughter/sister
wife
runner
employee [yes, I "work" for myself, but that brings an unusual layer of much needed goals]

Hold. me. to. this.

"no more complaining" [ok, minimal complaining]

time to start.
freaking.
doing. d o - i n g.

I came across this photo last night.  Hadn't uploaded all the photos from the race.

it
made
me
smile.

Not because I think it's a good photo

but because

I look happy.  I look driven.  I look strong [come on!  let me have my moment ;) ]

I may be 19 days late

but

I may be 345 days . . . early.

*************************************

do share . . .

* what is the ONE goal you want most in 2011?*

Mine is simple. LIVE LIFE. I may not get all my "to-dos" crossed out, I will have some "sick" days and sometimes my "roles" (mommy, sister, friend, wife... etc.) might seem to take a front seat... but I will LIVE LIFE.

Carrie. Awesome.
Copying. That. One. Now.

Learning to enjoy racing and stop being a mental head case about competitions :) I can dream can't I?

And a sub 5 minute mile.

My goal for 2011: be happy, even during adverse times. It has worked well for me in past, and will continue to do so in 2011.

My 2011 goal is to to cross the finish line of my half iron race exhausted but strong having lost 40 (or so) pounds and have my picture taken with my finishers medal. And maybe write shorter sentences (that was LONG).

Heather said...

Great photo! I need to write out my goals too...I've been thinking of them over the past couple of weeks, but that's not enough!!! I need to DO too! for 2011 I want to eat healthier and workout more.

All of my goals centered around one thing: being an awesomer me. Now, I'm already pretty awesome, at least to myself. I want to do what I'm doing only BETTER.

Love the pic! Congrats on your race, I think you are too hard on yourself, you were smoking fast! My 1 goal 2011 - 10 mile PR! :)

My biggest goal? To live in the NOW. Not worry about what I shoulda/coulda/woulda, not hoping to get today out of the way so I can move onto something else, but live well right NOW.

Love that pic! : )

you are awesome. it sure does make a difference once you actually sit down, take some time and actually write down goals. it files them away just a little better in our mind. good on ya...

you've pretty much heard me blab on and on about running goals but i'm adding in 8 minute abs... :)

love the pic - you should blow it up - that moment looks like {running happiness} to me!

I HEART that picture big time EMZ!

I REALLY want a 3:50 marathon for my 2nd, but I also want to pay it forward and encourage someone who is afraid to run....TO RUN! I already got the hubs to do a half! :)

Tom said...

Biggest goal? Get the money under control so I can focus on more important things. I'm afraid if a photographer followed me all 26.2 miles, he would not be able to get a picture of me smiling while running a marathon. You make it look fun.

GREAT picture!!

I have not been able to wrap my head around my goals YET.. but I like the idea of not being late for it.. I have been stressing about it..

Emz said...

Dash - I know. you are right but . . . I want it soooo bad. ;) you're awesome.

Shelly - wishing you peace today.

Tom - hilarious. it's 99% fun. ;)

Dawn - 8 min abs - i. love. that. comment.

I had to adjust my goals for this year due to surgery. So, new primary goal:

Run my ass off until I cannot do it any more and then get up and run until I pass out!

There are 10 fingers in that picture and there should only be 2 or so I thought.

Goals for 2011 are to make myself better so that those around me are better and have the ripple effect of a pebble in a pond.

Caratunk Girl said...

LOVE that picture, you do look so happy and strong.

My 2011 goals? Finish IMLP in <14hrs. Stay injury free. Laugh as much as possible. Not in that order.

Caratunk Girl said...

Oh crap. You said 1 goal. They do not teach reading comprehension in Maine.

I will go with the laugh as much as possible one.

and to finish my first half marathon this coming Sunday and to say this after I finish: "cannot wait for the next one!"

Unknown said...

I want to see what my potential is as a runner. I want to PUSH and see how fast and how far this body can go :)

You look gorgeous in that photo, like always. But it's an extra beautiful picture.

I break my life into a series of goals every year. Spiritual, physical, emotional, and family. I'm a bit type-A.
My main goal this year is to improve my "love-walk". Have more compassion and empathy for people.

I'm stealing Matty O's

Learning to enjoy racing and stop being a mental head case about competitions

Plus, learn to love running and bask in the glory of Mike Riley's words "You are an IRONMAN" in 43 days :)

PS Pickle juice experiment is on this weekend!

My one overall goal is to finish what I started. Several plates in the air, and I'm not going to let any of them drop.

***To be a better wife and mom***

I was visiting my cousin in the hospital this weekend and he said "The only thing that I've ever wanted is to be a dad and a husband and that is still all I want. It is The most important thing."

I love him for reminding me of what is most important.

Can't wait to see your goals reached this year!!

Love this post, and that picture ROCKS! You DO look happy and strong! Awesome!

One goal for me this year is to REALLY feel confident with my swimming so I can take on Ironman AZ head on and not be faced with fear right from the start! Bring on the swimming suit and goggles! :)

Jen said...

Yep, I love the smile on your face. And you might be too hard on yourself. You're totally goal driven, you can just tell. You wouldn't even need anything written down and you'd still accomplish.
My goal, relax. About everything.

Molly said...

hmmmm. I'm turning 39 on the 31st (gasp! huh?) so this year I want to get myself in the best shape I can, to tackle my first triathlon, to run a second marathon. I want to turn 40 with a smile.

One Crazy Penguin said...

I'm getting into med school and getting my sub 2 hour half marathon. 2011 is going to be great!

But even if those don't happen, I'm going to be happy and cherish those around me. 2011 is the year about loving myself and loving others.

I just want a year free from the stresses of the past two - no newly-found half-siblings and no broken hearts and no broken partnerships. I'd like no drama!

Michelle said...

I want my first BQ....on 5/1/11 in Eugene. I want to maintain the balance, health and thankfulness on a daily basis that I have learned over the last year. If I don't get the BQ, I've still got 7 more months to meet my goal, right?

Sweetheart that IS a gorgeous picture. You are.

Looks like we share insomnia - do we? My big goal this year is to learn to deal with my worries / concerns better so that I don't wake up at 3am with anxiety racing through my veins. Meditation might well be the way to go I think. Tips / tricks / suggestions welcome...

Laura said...

You are all of those things - happy, strong, awesome, EMZ...
My 2011 goals? Be healthy mentally, physically, work-ally and in my personal relationships.

Johann said...

I love that photo! You are a very special person and will reach whatever goal/dream you have. My motto/word for the year is live! including the exclamation. I will live! this year. Oh ye, and then there's that 100 miler thing...

My goal for 2011 is to finish my two 70.3's without injury and in under 6hrs :)

Nelly said...

My main goal is to try to get 3:30 at Chicago marathon...I got 3:57 for my first marathon at SF, so I think it's possible to improve this much on a flat course and also with a better training program. Maybe my end goal for marathons is to try to be as fast as you! haha
