"I Was Just Thinking" - Teitur

of. my. Dad.

Yesterday.
was.
his.
day.

His. birthday.  [no, I did NOT forget yesterday].  They [finally] return home from their travels today.  So.  Today.  I. write. his. Birthday. post.  [I'm 99% 5% sure, he'll read it]

To My dad.

Thank you  . . . . .

. . . .for teaching me to sweat.  To work hard.

. . . .for expecting a lot from me.  [In school, at church, on the court, in life]

. . . .for teaching me about money [at an early age].  Teaching me that nothing should be purchased on a credit card that cannot be paid off completely by the time payment is due.  To "make interest don't pay it".

. . . .for taking walk/runs with me at night.  It was awesome counting to 100 while running so that I could stop and walk at 101.

. . . .for encouraging me play with my brother.  learn with him.  being "one of the boys" when it came to sports. has. helped. me. be. stronger.

. . . .for realizing & getting that I am emotional.  I pretend I am made like a M & M, but you know me better than that.

. . . .for teaching me by your example as much as by your words.

. . . .for the athletic genes.  Sorry mom don't mean to down play your awesome rollerskating youth but . . . . come on, he is "twinkle toes".

. . . .for telling me to finish strong.  no. matter. what.  Anything worth doing is worth sprinting the last 30 seconds. [or something like that. ;) ]

. . . .for giving of your love and time supporting your grandchildren.

. . . .for loving me unconditionally.  always.  I know I have let you down [plenty] in the past.

. . . .for teaching me how to forgive by seeing you forgive others.

. . . .for having strong opinions.

. . . .for all your forwarded emails.  [I have a feeling I'll have about 20 coming my way by tomorrow afternoon.]  your emails. have. been. missed.

. . . .for being my Dad.

Love,

The "baby".

Happy Birthday Daddy of THE EMZ!
must be one special guy!

He will love this post. He will be happy you listened when he tried to give you advices.. Right Dad?

Got to tell you that I thought of you Sunday during my first half Marathon. I hit the wall at mile 11and I remembered reading on your blog "nobody walk at mile 25" so at mile 12 I said the same to myself..nobody walk at freaking mile 12 and I did not walk..I crossed the finish line running. So thank you for the inspiration.

Happy Birthday to your dad! That's a great tribute that I'm sure he'll love reading. I'm always telling my youngest that he'll always be my baby no matter how old he is. Glad you've succumbed to that title.

Happy Birthday to Emz's dad. He must have been something special to have you as a daughter. I know that's kind of Hallmark sounding, but true.

what a great inspiration. My dad is the same. We ran together as well. Glad I didn't have to count to 100 though. I think mine was more like 20, haha.

What a sweet post! My dad really pushes me with athletics, too. Kind of hard to tell your two-time Ironman dad that you don't want to run faster. ;)

My Dad's birthday was Saturday, your Dad sounds a lot like him. My Dad has been gone almost 17 years but I still love him as much and can hear his advice when I need it most. What a gift to have such great Dad's!

Wow, a true MAN. I would explode from joy if my daughter wrote something that nice about me. Someday, when she's old. Uh, I mean older.

HI Sweetie,

I loved reading your blog regarding my birthday upon our return from Israel and Egypt this morning--what a nice surprise. I am the one who benefits from our close association as father and daughter. I remember the walks, runs and personal and private times together. I feel a strong desire to be the best example as a father, husband and grandfather as I can possible be but I have made many mistakes also. I have always been proud of you in all of your undertakings. You don't let any obstacle stand in your way of accomplishing your goals. Love Dad
