Life is full of moments.
Motherhood. is. full. of. moments.
happy.
tiring.
sad.
creative.
confusing.
loving.
I've been so grateful for the moments, I've recently had, with my Peanut.
moments where my "baby", on the verge of sleep, looks up at me with eyes that shine, even in the [mostly] darkened room. I stroke my fingers through her hair. She asks, "Mom, what we are doing tomorrow?" I reply, "same ole, same ole". and she smiles. And then, like every other night, I plead with her to stop growing so fast.
I know she will grow. And I know change is inevitable. (There are even some days I look forward to that day.) But, last night, after she had fallen asleep, I stole one more kiss upon her forehead. I am forever grateful for nights like last night. For nights like my birthday [night].
For moments.
For cake in faces. For cake that tastes as good up my nose as in my mouth.
For motherhood.

Was last night your Bday? Well happy bday, if I was wrong, then i am saying happy bday for your next one, paying it off in advance, phew, crossed that one off the list
Hilarious! All moments of motherhood are fab...even the cake up the nose moments. Maybe not the cleaning up of puke. But so much of it is awesome. And if nothing else, cake in the face/up the nose makes for a great blog post! :)
Happy Belated!
Beautiful :)
Martina McBride was the first concert I ever attended at the ripe old age of 12 years old :)
Oh I so get this. So get this. I got into bed with my little 9 year old peanut this morning before she got up. Everynight when I go to kiss her goodnight, she pushes the hair out of my face while she asks me some little question, just to keep me in her room a bit longer. She is just growing to fast. I already miss her but love who she will be too.
Got the Vegas email. Ahhhahahahahah!!!!!!!!!
<3 Beautiful. Motherhood is such a rollercoaster, but one with mostly peaks - and a few valleys to make you appreciate the good times. I too plead with my 7 year old daughter to pleeeeease stop growing.
Love the cake in the face. Perfect!
hahaha, at fiorst I thought she was just stroking your hair! not so much! I'll bet the PITA put her up to it.
Oh I am with you on that one..I told my 4 yrs old who will be 5 in less then a month that I wanted him to stay that size forever and he looked at me and he said "OK Mommy and you stay that size too!"

SUAR. Loved your comment.
DRog. Awesome. Umm yes it's a different kind if "baby" but baby nonetheless. ;)
No photo only because I ran like a charging bull to the man with the camera to "share the carrot cake love". I'm just thoughtful like that. ;)

There's no denying it now, she is definitely your daughter! LOL! :)
Ha ha, cake in the face, I love it!!! You're going to regret not having an after picture, I think you should do it again.
Peanut is going to be an awesome adult with a great sense of humor, I hope it goes by slowly for you though. ;)
This was just awesome, made me smile a lot!
OK I just saw Peanut's hand on the back of your head. TOO FUNNY! Well, for me and Peanut.
Yep, usual stoic me is laughing. But I always eat cake up my nose. Isn't that how it's meant to be.
Awwwwwwwwww! Like mother like daughter! Cake in the face and all!
Now THAT made me laugh :)
love the post....waiting for the AFTER picture.
face-in-cake!
Happy Birthday EMZ. I hope you have a good birthday week until Thursday to round off the seven days!
Happy belated birthday!! I am glad your parents took a chance on one more too (and I love the Saturday's Warrior shout out in your other post).
I thought about you while I was in Arizona (Queen Creek) over the holidays =)
Happy Birthday! What day was yours on? Mine is the 6th, and have yet to post about it...but it's coming. Your peanut is so funny. You should have posted the after photo.
OMG great picture! Happy (bleated?) birthday!
Motherhood is the closest thing to perfection that I know.
How wonderful that you are fully treasuring those moments!
Awe! What a sweet post. Why is it that kids always look the sweetest right before they fall asleep? Babies to teenager, it's still the same.
I love that Martina McBride song! And being a mom :)
Awesome!
so sweet, ive got some tears in my eyes. i look forward to my little girl growing up.....but sad at the same time. she will be 3 next month and i know as soon as i turn around she will be 17. savor the moments right???
cherish!
hahahaha ... awesome Peanut! You didn't even see it coming - so sweet!
i'm with you. :)
love this post.
I so love this post, as bittersweet as it is. There's less and less of that these days with my going-on-12 year old. She manages to break my heart (STOP with the growing up already!) and make me gut-bustingly proud daily.
LOVE that she got you with the cake!
My kids would never do that. They have a one track mind on eating it.
So sweet!
I'm having a rough time with my boys right now, so this was a nice reminder.
That was awesome and as usual makes me think about my precious times with my family and how much they mean to me.
Thanks Em.
Happy Birthday?
Love the pictures! And your post made me cry.
I love reading about your love for your daughter. Yes, they grow up way too fast!
Can you put all that into a greeting card? That was PERFECT!
She's a lucky young lady, just like you are a lucky momma! :)
I can't speak as a mother, but I can speak as a daughter who had a great mother and lost her too young. Those moments that mean so much to you, mean a lot to her too, even if she doesn't know it yet.
Lol... it's a hard lesson for us, sometimes, when they start to learn our tricks! And adopt our sense of humor!
Love that pic!
Precious. :)
Love that pic! ;)
Some days too fast, some days too slow. Being a parent is definitely a unique experience.
You and your fam are just awesome.
You totallllllly had NO IDEA. Tell me PITA goes... yeah, check out this pic (after he got a frosting coated smooch of course) haha!
Hope all is well. T Minus how many days?
Happy belated birthday EMZ! I forgot to wish you one last week!
Beautiful post. You and peanut are adorable!
How are hearts handle the love for our children, I will never know. Sometimes I feel like mine is about to explode, it gets so full.
I LOVE this post. I totally get it. I have two little peanuts. #1 is only 9 and already 5'1". How scary is that? My baby just turned 7. I just want to hold on to them and never let go. They are growing up way too fast. I love my girls.
I loved this post!
Kids grow up so fast and your right we have to steal those moments when we can.
