"Man's Best Friend" - Ice Cube [+ doggie treat giveaway]

So it's no secret.

I'm
not
a
huge
animal
lover.

I came from a family where our average length for keeping a pet [and keeping him/her alive] was about 2 months.

So  . . . . well when the Pita bought this [sorry] "him" for me . .

. .  . I cried.  No joke.  Then asked, "it's he's returnable, right?"  It's not that I dislike them.  I love other people's dogs.  It's more like I don't enjoy taking care of them [food, poop pick-up, etc].  We travel a lot.  and I greatly un-enjoy having to find a sitter . . . . . . for my dogs?!

Ya, I'm that dog owner who has no idea how old her dogs are.

Vet:  so how old is Mr. Chuy?
Me:  ummmm, like 3 or 5 ish.
Vet:  you don't know how old your dog is?
Me:  no. but I totally know when I am to pick up my daughter from Summer camp.

[ya, to put it mildly, they were not impressed as I'm sure MANY of you aren't with my dog caretaker skills and or brain skills]

The good news . . . .  They are growing on me.  Kinda literally.  Chuy, for some unknown reason adores me and one day when he is 7 or 10 years old and chills a bit . . . . I know we will be BFF's.

Now Mase.  [my Pitbull]. He's has always rocked.  He's [now] an outside dog [due to my home business].

best. dog. ever.

Trained him like crazy from day one.  Totally. paid. off.

NOW enter Pam and "PUPCAKES".  Pam is awesome.  She works with my sister Shar / "Happy".  [Yes, yes, she's 99.94% happy sister.]

When I went to get the mail Monday.  I found these . . .

So awesome.  It smelled like pumpkin.  I. was. stoked.

ummmm, then I realized they   . . .

HOLD
the
phone
 . . . . were for my dogs . . . .what?! ;)

It was like freaking Christmas for dogs around here.

[Oh but get this . . . they come in gluten free & regular versions and humans can eat them too. . . .yes, of course, I tried them!]

They. were. off. their. faces.

This is me attempting to put him on a "sit. stay" for the treat.

This is when I caught him trying to run off with it in his mouth to the "no eating here" zone.

Chuy started running in circles.  I must get a video of this for you guys.  I'm quite sure we got the defective dog [can you say mental issues?] but it's so freaking awesome.

So he's running in circles.  Mase is barking something fierce from outside like, "give me some lady!".

See him licking his chomps . . . love it.

He was only a little unimpressed that I had offended him with only giving him three.  "Lady, I need six to make it worth my effort to stand."- Mase

Needless to say - they were a HIT.

They are now gone.

but. Chuy. is. still. freaking. following. me. around.

So

awesome Pam has offered to give two away [one GF & one regular] here on my blog to two lucky readers!

How you enter:

* be a follower
* know how to eat
* tell me why you love your dog, cat, rat or pet scorpion and your "pets" age [heee hee]

AND please call her for more info or if you'd like to order!!

Did I mention, she's freaking awesome?!

Pam:  480.518.7050

I am obsessed with my pets (see today's post lol) - they are my children. And yes I know all their birthdays (Kylie 3/11, Emma 3/24, Bailey 6/12, Jasmine 8/10). Crazy pet lady for you?? Kylie and Emma would loooove some treats <3

I hate animals including mine but I was hoping to score some human ones because of #2 above!

Just wanted to be the first to post and really hope I don't win :)

you are silly and remind me of my sister... not a pet person. My cat ChopChop was born October 2nd, 2002. She is my baby and I love her.
I have trained her to give me 5 for a treat... and she likes to cuddle under the covers in the morning so I have a tough time getting out of bed.

I, um, know how to eat. I don't try to shove food up my butt or anything. Is that what you mean?

jymmebe said...

We all love Chuy around here! Can't say that I've met Mace more than once or twice . . .

Oh ya, I found another fun scorpion in my garage yesterday. Mike could have a family of them here from our house, unfortunately! I made Jeff spray the house/garage twice over yesterday to make sure the next time I see one, it's dead! :)

Unknown said...

My greyhound, Slim, is a badass because he loves to lay around all damn day. He doesn't bark except to go in and out. He doesn't go wild tearing up the house. My neighbor once thought he was dead because he laid in the yard for so long. Oh, and because greyhounds are all marked with tattoos in their ears when they are born, I can tell you that he is 11 and his birthday is on Feb 2nd (same day as min, no shit'n).

Rose @ Eat, Drink, and Be Meiri said...

Our dog is new to us, and the pound picked him up as a stray, so his birthday is unknown.

Which means we'll never have to throw him a party! Score!

I enjoy him. I'll like him more when we can give him a bath (he had nut removal, so we can't bathe him until this weekend), but he's cute, and doesn't bark, which is aces in my book. The husband is head over heels in love with him.

I LOOOOVE my dog. She is the sweetest of all. I know her bday: 03-14-2000. She is my 1st kid. waited 31 yrs to have a dog. I want another one. B says no. Boo hoo hooo B.
did I win?

Q - Q- Q- Mase is Chuyintolerant.

jymmebe - - - they don't die with spray - however that will kill what they are feeding on but . . . keep your spare shoe close. ;) two in one week? IT'S SCORPION SEASON!! I think we only have room for 4 more in the "in".

Dash's bday is 9/21/2007. It's okay to love your dogs, but don't LOVE your dogs But I do LOVE her! Awesome treats!

I love my pups because they are always 100% happy to see me and sophie wants to make me happy while frank is a big opf and likes to break things.

Um, I have 4 kids and a husband. Much to my kids' dismay, I do NOT need one more living thing in this house for which I am responsible. No pets - for now anyhow....

(BUT. Those treats look so cool - if I DID have pets, I'd totally spoil the crap outta them with that kind of thing...)

No pets. My grandma though, not only has the birthday of every dog she has ever owned written on her calendar but she also has their death dates too and she transfers them to a new calendar every year... yeah a little obsessive... actually, borderline creepy now that I think about it. :)

My goofball dog is 1.5 years old. I love her because she is the only other family member that doesn't resemble a hungover grizzly bear before 9AM. Not a house full of morning-people, which is tough when I'm up at 5AM every day trying to get some exercise. She's always happy to see me - poor thing.

I would have totally eaten those heart cookies, too. We are finally pet-free. We were up to 5 cats, a dog, a rabbit and a parrot at one point. It is a drag to need a pet sitter when traveling. I had a parrot whose hatchday was December 13, 1991. He is with his new 'mommy' now. I have no idea when the other animals' birthdays were…they were all hand-me-downs.

Heidi was born on Nov 17th. Same day as Nick so it's easy to remember!

To be honest I doubt the vet cared that you didn't know your dogs age (sooo many ppl have rescue dogs so they never know.) It's sooo much more irritating if your dog is obese and you think it's cute. Or if you refuse to get them neutered.

Also it blows my mind that you keep the dog you actually like outside. I'm just gonna be honest here, I think it's really weird. Doesn't Mase get offended? I mean I would understand if you kept both dogs outside, or neither dog outside, but I feel that you are treating Mase unfairly because of his pitbull genes. Doggy discrimination!!!

Anonymous said...

haha I love this! I actually don't know my dog Oscar's exact birthday only because we adopted him. Therefore, we use the date he was rescued as his birthday (August 31st). I love my dog because despite the fact that he eats my dinner before I can get to it, and jumps on our counters, and always hogs the AC, he seems to always know what I'm feeling and I love him for that!!

I love my dog because she's so loyal to me. Although it is a pain to have her underfoot ALL. OF. THE. TIME. ...it is obvious who in the family she loves the most...the one who takes her hiking, walking, running...see this trend? We help each other stay in shape.

We celebrate her birthday every Jan 21st...and she's 4 :D
I made up her birthdate when I got her(it's an old boyfriend's birthday)because it's easy to remember... and I guessed at 4. You're not so bad ;-)

Pug#1: Ernie - 27.5 lbs, he is 10 years old and going blind and deaf. But would destroy some Pupcakes!

Pug#2: Bailey (little girl) - 23 lbs, she is 9.5 yrs old and still runs around like a pup. She would try and steal Ernie's Pupcake.

Ernie is an asshole but we still love him and Bailey is a sweet little cuddle machine who sometimes likes to eat poop.

Julia said...

I have a crazy wiener dog. like really crazy. she is SASSY. wonder where she learned that?? ha. 3 years old. I kept track of months for a whole year. then realized that was getting old and if I did it for the rest of her life it would drive me crazy.

I'm a dog-lover, an ex-vet (not the shoot-em-up kind, the stitch-em-up kind) and I have no idea how old my dog is. He's about 13 ish. Does it really matter. It's not like he's going to get carded soon (but that's only because he never goes out to drink)

Love your pitbull! He's gorgeous.

LB said...

OMG, love your pitbull!!!

yes i know my dogs EXACT birthday, which just so happens to be my mother in laws birthday (how fitting right??!!) his name is rhett butler, the ultimate southern gentleman. he will be 7 years old this year. he is simply the best dog on earth even though he worships my husband instead of me. maybe if i score him some tasty treats he will change his tune :)

Jeff is lying. Ernie is not an a-hole. He and Bailey were awesome when I dog sat them a few weeks ago.

Ginga - highlighted on Mandy's blog a while back in a Mutley Monday is 3.5 years old and weighs 25 lbs. She is a fawn colored pug who can do a lap around the house in 1.4 seconds flat. That is her PR but we are working on getting faster.

Some hill repeats, some fartleks and we will get there.

She will also most likely be getting a companion black male pug named Captain.

Get it? We will have Captain and Ginga (prounounced Ginger) for dogs. Then maybe another one called Morgan.....

I so know my dog's birthday - April 15...tax day!

I love my German Shepherd Taz - he's only 2 so he alternates between being a total badass sometimes to being a completely goofy puppy...who happens to weigh 90 lbs :) I also love that he totally heeds my commands but tends to use my hubs as a human chew stick...he's so my dog ;)

I follow you and I know how to eat. I do know my dogs birthday, Nov 1st, but that is because we got her at Christmas. I actually love my dog. I love having her in the house, I feel safe and she always seems to know when I need a little extra love!!! That being said she is a lot of work and sometimes I want to scream, but in the end i/we love her.

I have two amazing dogs who are also my running buddies.
Shelby, she's almost 5, female, Kelpie x German Shepherd. She was born on the 27th of July 2006. I've had her since she was exactly 8 weeks old, and we'll be buddies for life. She follows me everywhere, and fiercly protects me. She gets jealous when my parter of two years hugs me, but she's coming around.
My boy, he's almost 2. We adopted him last year, and no one know when he was born exactly, just "around july" was all we got. He is a Swiss (white) Shepherd Husky cross. He loves my parter to bits, and adores Shelby even though she pretends she hates his guts...

I wouldn't be without my dogs :) But that's probably because I am not keen on the whole children thing?

We have 1 Awesome dog TITAN - I love him because my 10 year old son worked so hard to buy him ($100) when we were having some tough times... Titan helped the kids get through it... I love that he also chases the lights from flashlights.

And do kids count as pet??? NO? Ok then ya... we only have 3 :)

I am head over heels in love with all my critters--one cat and two bullies (a pit bull and an american bulldog).

I don't know their EXACT birthdays since they're all adopted from rescue, but they were all young enough when adopted that the vet could tell us about how many months old they were. My cat is an old lady. She'll be 12 next month, which is also when Harley will turn 2. Bella turned 2 in March. :)

Currently, my BFF (besides Jim) is totally my Choc Lab Jack. I love that dog so much it's stupid. I miss him when I'm at work and can't wait to see his smiling face and wagging tail when I get home.

His Birthday is April 20 and he was 5 years old this past April.

Thank you Chuy and Mase for sharing!!

You must know how to eat - All I LMAO. All I do is eat, and run, and feed my dog.

Lexi - I know her exact birthday because she's just a baby! 1/8/11 - a 5 month old little crazy beagle/australian shepherd mix. I love her because she is the CHILLEST puppy EVER. Sure she gets hyper, but she doesn't go to the bathroom in the house, she doesn't chew my shit, AND she listens. Not bad for a 5 month old.
