"Under Pressure" - Queen & Davie Bowie

I'm freaking loving it.

From my new compression socks from Zensah.

a w e s o m e.

Was so excited when they contacted me.

and even more excited when they listed "argyle" as an option.

awwwww. heck. freaking. ya.

I want need the argyle.

You see.....I was a huge lacoste & Izod fan when I was eight. ;)

I sadly dated a few guys who turned up at my door in argyle.  [Dad, why did you let them in?] ;)

But thank goodness they looked more like this:

Than this:

Now on to the socks . . . .

My trusty-dusty photographer Peanut got a few photos pre-run.

Mostly when I'm talking to her.  nice.

Or when I was throwing a treat to the dog to get him away from me.

We did manage one semi-normal photo . . .

What????   I said "semi".

Then it was onto the treadmill.

Firing it up:

And finally - all systems a "go" .

What heel strike?!

I did have to stop once to get a photo of Peanut and her friend who came in to dance to: "The Golden Age" By Fruit when it came on during my run.
Yes, Chris - she has officially taken over my shirt.  How the heck does this happen?
okay.

So 11 miles completed [yesterday's run] -- averaging 7:43 / mile.

I have only ever run in compression socks twice.  I usually use them exclusively for post run. . . . . . but I loved these.

I loved the feel on my arches.

and

I loved that they aren't too thin or too slippery.  I know, weird but I'm used to wearing a bit of a thicker sock so usually when I have tried to wear these during a run [socks by another brand] I feel like my shoes fit too lose?!  But not these.

Anyway.  I loved. them.

And the fact I get to look all preppy and Carlton [Fresh Prince of Bel-Air] like while doing it . . . . . well that's just a huge perk.

Now I just need to find some black running shoes so Idon't look like such a tool.

Do you wear compression socks?

During races? After?  Both?

YAY it's Tuesday!!

Mav's are going to kill the Heat tonight!

I haven't worn compression socks in a while, but with some problems in the heel and ankle, will start soon. No argyle in XL, totally unfair.

Wow a reference to Fresh Prince. That is awesome! Love the socks. I wear CEP socks. I have used them during a couple of training runs and then afterwards. I lvoe them. Plus, they are bright pink!

Are those meant to help with swelling? I need some! I tried some hose that didn't stay up well at all.

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! LOVE the Carlton reference. My kids watch Prince of Bellaire repeats all the time.

I have run in compression tights and socks and I do love them and that is the same brand I have. LOVE the argyle too. You look great as always!

Haha! I LOVED Carlton on the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. :)

I do like them. The only think I don't like is how hot they feel in the summer. Won't do that again. hello, passing out.

Anything over 7 miles and/or an hour, yes, but I use sleeves. Otherwise, I like to strut my legs au naturale along the beach path with just the low cut socks. I think they are my best asset.

I have those exact socks. I love them!!

Quinton J said...

i try not to cover up any part of my legs if i don't have to. when you've got it...flaunt it...that's what I always say.

Unknown said...

I so need to get my some socks and/or sleeves. I have to watch and really stretch my calves. They seem to be the first thing that tighten up and if I'm not careful my plantar will flare!!!!

Love those socks, I have been looking at them, but my shoes are white too... I love that you mentioned that!

I love your pace... and abs.

Happy Tuesday Emz!!

I wore compression *stockings* when I was pregnant... the super sexy thigh-high ones ;-)

And I just realized... you are probably the only other skinny runner with boobs!

Did I just embarrass you? Did I just embarrass myself?

you betcha :)

Petraruns said...

I LOVE compression socks and sometimes wear them not before, not after, not during exercise but just - really - whenever....

Love the Carlton ones though. Oh and I was totally into that preppy look myself. Did guys in the US wear 2 poloshirts on top of each other with the collars up? nice...

Marlene said...

Those are some slick-looking socks! Very nice. Awesome run too!

Emz said...

Petra. Hilarious. Yes. Two shirts here too. That cracked me up reading that.

Xlmic. Embarrassed?! Me?! Never. ;)

XLMIC said...

hahahha! no... i meant me :P

you def strike me as 'unembarrassable' :)

I need to buy some and can't decide, socks or calf sleeves. Wear while running or just recovery.. hmmmmm

Caratunk Girl said...

THOSE SOCKS ARE SO SWEET! Seriously.

Love them.

I need to go read about horse herpes. I didn't even know horses could get herpes?

I called Peanut stealing that shirt from the day you first posted it

Great to have your on photog!

Awesome run!

I love my compression but usually keep my socks for after races/runs. My short tights I love before, during and after.

Great review! Great pics! And love that Peanut took over the shirt. ;)

Don't worry EMZ, next time I go to Bakersfield, CA or Broken Arrow, OK, I'll get you a shirt. Maybe it will have a cow on it instead of a camel.

Compression socks are too unmanly for me. I'll ocassionally wear a compression sleeve if I'm a little injury. Yes, I am a dumbass.

Michelle said...

I have Zensah compression sleeves that I use post run and love 'em! Those argyle socks are sweet!

Emz said...

Chris k. Let's. See.

Toga = manly
Socks = nonmanly?!

Love the socks. I want a pair. I need a pair.

LOve the jam session during the tm run. Who needs tv?!?

What was that u say? The Mavs are going down. The Heat are going to win. Yeah. That's what I thought you said.

Amanda said...

I raced in Zensah calf sleeves this weekend since I wear the Vibrams and they are pure pleasure. Sometimes I wear my CEP compression socks after long runs and they help a ton.

Jason said...

I wear the compression post run and during rest day as well. I have never worn them during a race.

And yes....Let's Go Mavs!!!!!

Teamarcia said...

Nice! And I love the argyle...on the socks, not the guys...actually that first guy looks cute.
I wear compression apres-long run. Never tried them (yet) during.

Unknown said...

I love my compression socks, but I haven't raced in them... only after. Then again, I only have black, white and pink ones - no cute argyle ones. Didn't even know they made them that cute... off to investigate! :)

Abby said...

I totally need more compression in my life. I've taken to wearing compression socks the day before a race, and sometimes the day after, but never during. Recently, though, I've noticed folks out on the trails with compression socks on, and I've begun to think that about giving it a shot.

BabyWeightMyFatAss said...

The argyle is pretty cool! I wore compression socks for a run once and thought my tendons were going to snap. After that I only wear them for recovery. sigh.

Erika said...

I have 2 pairs of Zensah's which I LOVE...wear them post run and have worn them for races as well:) COuldn't live without!

Aimee said...

Those socks are awesome!!
I love my compression socks! I wear them on long runs and for recovery! They rock!

Jill said...

You look FANTASTIC in those socks, so so sooo you. I haven't work compression socks before but thinking they may really help my calves now that they're sore all the time - from running - yay!!

Caroline said...

Love the socks
I have a pair. Never ran in them
Maybe I should. I wear them for recovery and I also wore them on the plane

Kevin and Kim Partridge said...

You know I love compression socks and CANNOT run without them. BUT, you may not know, that I wore them on the R2R2R and they TOTALLY made a huge difference. But mine were boring white. Well, they became more dust color by the end. Fantastic review!

Molly said...

I wear 'em post long long run, but I wore them on a race for the first time this spring, it was a scary hilly course so I needed all the help I could get.

hey, are those wildfires anywhere near you?!?!?

Melissa Cunningham said...

oh emz!
you. (and peanut) are.tooooo.stinkin.cute!
about to forward your link to my running friend who has been looking for some compression socks....
:D

Jen said...

I just ordered a pair of sleeves from Zensha! Hoping they are good, but there was no argyle option there! What I really want is stripes or polka dots! Wanna make that suggestion to them for me?!
Love the title song as well! And Peanut and her friend are really rocking out!

Matty O said...

I do when my achilles is F'ed up. Helps A LOT surprisingly.

These things are legit, not a fad by any means. I feel better the next day when I wear them as recovery as well.

ihaverun said...

I've never worn them during a race, but I have worn them during a run if my legs are unusually unhappy. I prefer sleeves if I'm wearing them to run so I can wear my favorite socks, but those sound like they might make my feet happy too.

Love the pics. Even if they make me jealous.

ye-yeah!!! Go peanut rock star!!

I love that you got argyle!!! When it's cold (which you know nothing about!) I run in them with capris, and always put on compression socks post long run!!

Suzy said...

Those socks look great! I've only worn them post-run. I just don't know about wearing them while I run.

Fruit Fly said...

I NEED those!! I can't get enough argyle into my diet these days!
