"I Was Just Thinking" - Teitur

I was just thinking . . . .[I know you are scared]

* I love this photo from Mt. Lemon.
* Appreciate the simple things in life.

* Eat that second piece of cake, if you really want it.
* Time is the greatest gift you can give someone.
* Pick your battles.
* Think before you speak, especially if you're going to say something with irreparable impact.
* Don't play your trump card unless you have to.
* Children should nurture talents in both one sport and a fine art.

*Seek therapy if you're weathering a storm within. People need doctors for both the outside and the inside.
* Try new foods. It's the easiest, least expensive way to add some adventure to an otherwise ho-hum day.
* Always have a valid passport.
* Take family photos.

* Dorothy said it best: There's no place like home.

* Blood is thicker than water.
* Be there for family.  Even when it's hard.

* Brush your teeth twice a day. Three times if you have braces or have just eaten garlic crusted Prime rib.

* Trust your instincts about people. NOT what other's tell you about people.
* Trust in God. There really IS a plan at work, even if you might not have a clue what it is.

* Can't say enough about that honesty thing.
* Take time to play with children.
* Always buy Girl Scout cookies.
* Never pay full price for something over 20 bucks.
* Good looks are only skin deep.
* It's nice to be nice.

* Say please and thank-you, excuse me, pardon and I'm sorry.

* Send handwritten thank-you notes when someone gives you a gift, tangible or otherwise.
* Don't pass on gossip. Pass on compliments.
* Call your parents once a week to tell them you love them.
* Tell your parents you love them in your blog . . . just to see if they are actually reading it. ;)
* Tell the truth, even when it hurts.
* This is another good reason not to drink:

* Listen to others with a closed mouth and an open mind.
* Know how to hold your silverware properly at the table. Table manners are priceless.
* Karma really exists.
* I'm grateful for friends who call because they "had a feeling they should share something with me".  Thanks S.A.W.
* That bad dream last night was just a dream.  Even when you awaken from that dream in full on tears.
* I love my family.
* And especially, I was just thinking . . . I am grateful for an older sister who is strong. caring. emotional. supportive. and always there.

What are you thinking?

I was thinking that today is going to be a great day. I was thinking that I am beyond luck to have the wife I have. I was thinking that I need to call Mom today (she doesn't read my blog....she can barely operate that iPad her fiance got her let alone find my blog.) I was thinking I have an awesome life. I was thinking that time keeps on tickin' tickin' into the future. I was thinking I am a great asset to any firm that works with me. I was thinking that this blogger family of mine is to be cherished, respected and loved. I was thinking that I need to contact a number of folks for Marathon Makeover today before they split for the holidy. I was thinking that I better get started on the EMZ inspired Athletes Plate for today. I was thinking that I got Karen the R,R,R,R,R,R shirt from PRR and need to take photos today. I was thinking that I will get to run an 8 miler with my coach tomorrow while she pushes a 50 lb child in the stroller and I will be more tired than her. I was thinking that life is great.

Beautiful wisdom for a Wednesday!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

I'm thinking... "if it's free, take two" hehe

Totally cool list. I also approve of the North Face jacket. The only thing I disagree with is....nah never mind I agree. The handwritten notes are tough for me because of terrible writing, that's all.

Emz said...

Marlene - love that. I'll "ditto" that.

Patrick - TNFace - I love me-my NF. ;)

thanks for the reminder! I gotta get my passport renewed. I am traveling to Texas in April afterall! haha!

I so thought you wrote, "Pick your bellies" before I reread and saw "Pick your BATTLES."

Guess that goes under the think before you speak category, eh? Or is that write category?

Have a good Gobler day!

Karine said...

I'm thinking I am pretty lucky to get to read your "love notes" on your blog as well as get them in person. Can't wait for the "garlic crusted prime rib". I just packed my tooth brush for after dinner etiquette.

I love this blog. I was wondering how to write my "Thanksgiving" blog and now I have a strong idea. Thanks!

Love you thoughts!

"Time" is such an important gift--we all too often rush through life!

My hubs and I ran on a treadmill today...he turns to me and says, "So, that blogger really ran over 21 miles on one of these?!"

Karen R said...

As always, love the post!

Thanks for reminding me that time is the best gift that you can give :)

Emz said...

Jess - hilarious. You can say, "yes, and that psycho has a 22miler on the mill planned for tomorrow". YAY!!

Karen R - I adore you and your bikinis, vacations, yellow dresses and most importantly....posts and comments.

I swear I am going to cut and paste your thoughts into an email to Army son. I love this list!

(I say; Pass on compliments but take a pass on gossip!)

What was I thinking today? That time goes so quickly. It really doesn't matter if my little guy doesn't want to sleep in his own bed. This afternoon I'll blink and he'll be wanting to sleep with someone else. I better get over worrying about what "he" should be doing and start ENJOYING what he IS doing...with me!

Have an amazing holiday!

RunningLaur said...

Fantastic. The extra minute or two it takes to snap a family photo is always worth it.

What am I thinking? Just one thing. How my life is better in every single way this year than it was last, and how fortunate I am for that.

Jen said...

Excellent post, as usual! Think before you speak...I need to work on this one! Seem to have a problem lately!! I'm also thinking...."you never know how your actions or words might impact others".

misszippy said...

Beautiful post and so on the mark! Happy Thanksgiving!

Emz said...

Shelly - laughed out loud at the "he'll be sleeping w/someone else comment". Hilarious.

Lauren - yay. How happy is THAT?!!! Better than last year...rocks.

That drinking may cause memory loss pics is awesome. Still laughing!

I love what you're thinking - thank you so much for putting out there.

I was just thinking that though last year has been SO hard in so many ways I have learned so much about myself that is making me so much stronger and more able now. I was thinking I learned something from all the heartache and that's good.

I was thinking thank god for you, my blogging buddies.

And for you. I feel better knowing that you have such wonderful abs even though mine are determined to hide under a bag of daim bars.

Love it.

Sometimes the kindest word you can say to someone is the unkind word you thought and didn't say.

No worries, I keep the girl scouts in business!

Freezing in UT right now! 17 degrees!!

As requested "please and thank-you, excuse me, pardon and I'm sorry."

I put the Coach Troy spinerval up Mt Lemmon in the DVD. Somehow your pic looks better.

I'm thinking this was the pefect blog for me to read today! So... thank you! :)

Kelly Leigh said...

Eeeek i like when you think! So many good thoughts going on in there!

I was thinking that you shouldn't grocery shop while hungry. Nick and I just went shopping together after work and our cab driver asked if we had a "big family".... ummm no just us...

Julie @ HotlegsRunner said...

It causes memory loss? So THAT explains it. LOL ;p

I'm thinking of putting myself back on the priority list. =)

I was thinking that I wish for just one holiday, that the entire family could function in harmony... but if not, that I could not stress out about it.

Unknown said...

I couldn't agree more with your list. You always say it best.

Except, the table manners thing. I might need some etiquette lessons. I eat like a hippie on the floor sitting indian style. :) Uh oh, is "indian style" politically correct?

either way, have a fabulous thanksgiving! I will definitely be having that second piece of cake (or in this case PIE!)

ajh said...

So many of these are good. I am def. a pick your battles person even or especially as a teacher. I can let so many things go but I have to admit random noises isn't one of them! Kids learn to adjust to us and what our pet peeves are. It trains them for life!

And yes.......there is no place like home.

Emz said...

Kate - laughing soooooooooo hard. "I.S" ...PC? I don't know. I said it last week and was told by my Peanut that she "is not allowed to say that at school." I said, "uhhh, ok, so what can you say?" Her reply, "criss/cross, apple/sauce"..... I don't even get that.

Wow! Absolutely amazing post. I loved the one about time being the best gift you can give. Karma really does exist and listening with a closed mouth and open mind is so important.
I love posts that make me think and make me ask questions about things! LOVE IT!!

I love this list. It actually made me tear up a little bit. I think this holiday is just making me a little too emotional lately!
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving day!

I am thinking criss/cross/apple/sauce makes no sense, too.

I am also thinking that one of the most important things we can do for ourselves is believe in ourselves.

Thank you for this great post, Emz!

Awesome! I love taking family pics! Happy Thanksgiving Emz!

I was just thinking I needed to read some of those today, and I think I played a trump card too early this week and said some things without thinking. Crap.

Couldn't agree more on the nice thing.

Wishing you a very happy thanksgiving with your family.

Silly Girl Running said...

Pick your battles. Couldn't agree more!

Also, spend time with your parents (or, in my case, your Mom); you will treasure these memories when they are no longer physically around. This hit me when my grandmother died. So important and precious!

Johann said...

Lovely thoughts! I agree with every one of them. Happy Thanksgiving!
