This is nothing new.

One song can bring me to tears/full out laughter or up on my feet shakin' what my mama [didn't] give me -- within a matter of seconds.
Needless to say, I am quick to display my emotions.
Sometimes I get all funky and super aware of my mortality. Realizing that some day when it's all said and done this body of mine is going to end up in something that looks more like a pared down Buick than any sort of pine/cedar box.
Other days I'm all Pollyanna and sunshine and effervescently bursting with optimism. I am fully aware this overly positive outlook has a way of annoying people.
whatever. anyway.
Still, there are other days when I get into a funk because I care about something too much. Way too much. Something I can't change. Maybe it's something with work, maybe it's a relationship/friendship that needs a little grease. I over-think sometimes and it can make me feel a bit down.
And I'm SO not okay with that.
I've decided, to not wait until January 1, 2011 to do this NYR [New Years Resolution]. 1/1/11 [creepy/cool]. It is way too close to my birthday. And I intend to celebrate for 2.5 weeks.
I have a list of ten but the one I am sharing today is #3:
#3: I am not going to let anyone steal my sunshine.
Yes, that's right I said "steal" .
I hearby declare that I will do my best to treat people the way that I want to be treated. I will kill negativity with kindness and remain committed to brushing off bad attitudes, bad comments, hurtful remarks.
I spent so many years in stuck in a cloud of frustration, anxiety and insecurity and realized life is too short to live that way.
Live and let live.
I intend to live mine happy.
Maybe. even. annoyingly happy.

I am extremely emotional too! What a great idea to start your resolution now...especially such a great one that effects your everyday mood and happiness. I am going to have to copy you on this one. Life really is too short to live like that:) Great post!

Unrelated story, just for you: To save money, Stacy moved to a smaller apartment and to make the move, threw out 400 pairs of shoes. I said, "If you hadn't bought those shoes, you could've made a down payment on a house."

Excellent resolution for any time, not just at the start of a new year. I'm pretty confident, based on so many of your posts, that if one were bold enough to abscond with your sunshine, you'd just make more. That sunshine is what keeps the followers coming back for more.
I am in awe at the collective magnitude of hair in that photograph. Kids today just don't have the hair-growing skillz we had back in the day.

My sis "happy" - she. rocked. the 80's. I'm pretty sure who ever bought our old place in Glendale . . . had about 477 layers of aqua net to take off the bathroom wall before a layer of paint would stick to it.
Totally agree! Well said! I spent this week thinking along the same thoughts. I'm sick of wasting so much of my life allowing myself to feel anxiety and hurt from what others say and do. My FB status on Sunday was along similar lines (and feelings):
Life is too short to worry about what everyone else thinks and being pleasing to everyone. Too short to try to only say and do things that fall within the safety nets of "social safety rules". Too short to not BE yourself and Say what you think. Too short to not be REAL and surround yourself the most closely with those that love, support and embrace you for just that...being you!

I'm the same way though. I care way too much about certain things that I know I can't change. It's very difficult for me to let them go. I've been told by friends that it's kind of like watching a kitten run into a wall....Cute, but not going to get the kitten anywhere :p
OCP - Love the kitten comment. Did you know you can burn 150/hour by banging your head against a wall though?! not sayin' I've actually done it and called it an endurance event but . . . maybe that kitten is on to somethin'. ;)

My first New Year's resolution is to run the 10K on New Year's Eve at the Annual Resolution Run in my city, Ottawa, Canada- Great way to send out the old and ring in the new - don't even want to think about what else I should resolve to do - Oh yes - I resolve to work less in 2011!

I used to work with a really negative person and it was hard. Keep your positive spirit.

I told a friend yesterday that I KEEP SMILING b/c it will be good for me and will probably piss some people off but that is their problem. I can't control them and can only control myself.
