"Janie's Got A Gun" - Aerosmith

How was yesterday in 5 [errr 6] words?

The
[freaking]
Best
Thanksgiving
Day
Ever.

I got up a weeee bit too early.  I was going to run with M1 & M2 but as M2 said, "It's too cold to run outside today".  nice [we Arizona peeps might be wimps].  M1 & M2 - we are running together in the first anual "Emz 5k Cold Stumble" - you pick the date, time & place and I am there!

So instead I did this:

I did run with my sliding door open.  Ahhhhh, nature.

Now bring on the cooking.

Only one fight with the Pita in the kitchen in three hours --- pretty freaking great.
That's one for the record books.  YAY!

Dinner [I must say] . . was AMAZING.

The blue cheese mashed potatoes - insane.
Prime rib - ended up being - even better than I had thought.
We ended up roasting a thyme, lime & garlic chicken - which we didn't even slice into.
Forgot the stuffing in the oven.  [it was off, thank goodness]
The rolls - yum.  The orange rolls - yummier.

After dinner relaxing . . . . turned into a gun show. [I'll spare you the photos of my huge biceps] ;)

Janie's Papa's Got a Gun"

The company - the best.

Dessert fabulous [in my sweet apron].

The Saints winning - the icing on the cake - pie.

Fabulous Day.

And . . . . .

Happy Birthday to you Ang!!

We love you!!

Thanks for a GREAT DAY. Amen to this post. Must say it is a little "disarming" to see Papa toting heat. xoxoxoxox

RL - it w a s cold. ;)

Tom - game on!! Shopping now.... So still perfect as of 10:13am. ;)

Your apron's cute. YAH SAINTS! They just about put me into cardiac arrest though, and I got thrown out of the living room for shouting.

Patrick Mahoney said...

I know I do this all the time and I'm sorry but why 22.64? Are you doing it on a time or? Because my brain would never let me do that. If I'm running a route, length is not an issue because it's as long as it is. But on a treadmill when I'm in control, well you know my thing about rounding.

I'm liking freaking out over here.

Pam @ herbieontherun.com said...

Sounds like the perfect day! Glad you had a Happy Thanksgiving!

Marlene said...

You definitely earned your meal! Sounds like a delicious day. :)

Emz said...

Patrick - it always has to end in "4". :)

Patrick Mahoney said...

4 real? Then we'll have to agree to disagree. My stance on rounding is not negotiable.

Hoping I get the shirt today so I can rock it at the gym later. And THEN I am going to break a cardinal rule and wear cotton while running (over a tech L/S) and take pictures for the blog. Now what?

Jason said...

22.64???? I mean really? You have the mental fortitude to send you to Iraq with all of our secrets and if you get caught we know that nothing is coming out because that long on a treadmill will be harder than any torture you might have to endure.

Happy to hear that the T-Day went swimmingly.

Wore the PRR tech shirt in the Turkey Trot yesterday. Picture is on my post today. And the best part was a dude with a mohawk running and I pimped Ron's site to him during the run.

Enjoy the shopping....do you have your heels on? And did you beat the Target lady?

Unknown said...

You are a rockstar Emz - 22.64!!!

KovasP said...

22.64 steps, might be a new record. And running with the door open at 65 degrees? That's just crazy! First there was running skirts and now running aprons? With a gun? Are you training for a biathlon?

Sarah said...

Sounds so delicious! Glad you had a good Thanksgiving. :)

Emz said...

Patrick - need photos. Post. Post.

Jason - uggg. I shopped in my brooks. I'm such a loser.

Kovas - I was still sweating. Can you believe it?!

Jeff - too kind.

ShutUpandRun said...

Happy day to you my friend. Only you caould find a way to feel nature while on the treadmill.

Caratunk Girl said...

NICE. I will have to say I do not believe it could ever be too cold in AZ for me to run outside, too hot, maybe. :) I am a heat wimp.

So happy you had a great day, love the daddy's got a gun pictures. So funny!

Your mileage continues to astound me!!! You earn several turkey dinners with that run!!

Your mileage continues to amaze me! Sounds like a great holiday with loved ones and tasty sounding food!

Teamarcia said...

Darn it I'll have to remember to suggest a gun show when things get boring next year!
My MIL spilled turkey juice and had an oven fire...and it wasn't even her oven. Oops!

Happy Feet 26.2 said...

You are so mentally tough to be able to run that mileage on the dreadmill. I'll take the cold any day over that mileage on the mill. You are superwoman!

misszippy said...

And I would have needed that gun if I had been on the treadmill that long! You are amazing. I simply could NOT do that!

Karen Seal said...

I do have to agree...the Saints win was one of the highlights of the day! :0) Sounds like you had an awesome Thanksgiving!! :0)

Am I reading that right? 22.64 miles? On Thanksgiving morning? You amaze me! Good for you!

adena said...

Shouldn't you wear 'the buckle' OVER the apron?? Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Quinton J said...

Nice work on the meal. Unlike Patrick...I'm thinkin' there is no other number that you could've stopped at...it HAD to be 22.64.

And that blue and orange shirt is flippin' hot.

...Or just nice if 'hot' is too much.

Quinton J said...

one more thing...that photo with Peanut is awesome. She looks SO happy and content with her 2 favorite women.

Shawn said...

So...no one asked...did Papa shoot the Zebra that's on the couch....or sorry, sofa? Is he a good shot? Is the Zebra bigger than Hubby? (he looks BIG in pictures!!!! Hope you had a great bird day and kudos to you for running that distance to prepare for stuffing

Raegun said...

You had me at 'blue cheese mashed potatoes'....oh my! Glad to hear you had such a great Thanksgiving.

*the game was so much fun! of course i love to win. :D
the new Texas Stadium is just the most amazing structure i've ever seen. (it holds 110K ppls) it's just massive. the Dallas fans were amazingly nice to all of us "who dat's" ;-)

have a wonderful holiday emz!
i look forward to the marathon!!

Serious food envy here. Why doesn't Australia have Thanksgiving? All our (scrub) turkeys are running around thumbing their noses and laughing at their Yankee counterparts.

Anonymous said...

You are the one I think about when people say I spend too much time on the treadmill! That is freakin' awesome! (Love that you ran with "nature" through the door.)

Any chance at convincing you to reveal the family prime rib secret recipe???

My MIL's name is Janie... and she most definitely, does NOT, have a gun.

Emz said...

Leslie - you bet cha. The recipe will be posted ASAP!!

Char - hilarious. Love your comment.

Q - she said it was "one of the best days...ever" = happy emz.

Termite - stadium looks amazing. Yay for nice fans!!

Shawn - the zebra is a drop cloth/nap sheet. Leather [white leather] is no fun to eat on/nap [with full tummies on]. ;)

Nothing really says "giving thanks" like a nice run, then breaking out the semi-automatic weapons.

Ahh... America.

More than 35 km on a treadmill??? I am wordless!!!
When I began to run (1985, yes I am old) I remember only one woman doing that: Grete Waitz.

OMG, Papa's got a big gun!! Probably not so thankful when you were 15 bringing home the first boyfriend, but now it's awesome! ;)

Happy Thanksgiving, sounds like yours was spectacular!

Petraruns said...

22 miles? Girl you are amazing. What a day - complete with guns? Though I do feel bereft of seeing yours..

Kevin and Kim Partridge said...

I love your mom's face with your dad aiming the gun. I look like that when Dillan breaks out his air soft gun. I am still amazed how you get your treadmill to allow you to keep track of you miles after 99:99. Mine makes me start over, so I never get the thrill of seeing the total miles ran.
