"We are Family" - Sister Sledge

Day.  Made.  Thank you "Baby E" .

I [finally] convinced a family member to run a marathon with me.

So I may not have "all my sister's with me" [yet] but I've got one.  And one. is. good. amazing. awesome.

We both ran this race last year [click here] but she ran the half while I did the full.
Not this year.  YAY me!

It's a sisterhood run!  Here's the race. [click].

So now the next two months, racing schedule looks like this:

December:

* Tucson Marathon 12/12

January:

* RnR AZ 1/16
* ARR 1/29

"Baby E" [she's actually second oldest, I'm actually the "baby" but her name has a story] . . . I cannot wait to run with you.  This has been a HUGE dream of mine for the last year.

Thanks for letting me share this experience with you!

Happy.  Happy. Emz.

That would be awesome to race with one of my sisters. But either of them like to sweat much. Bummer.

I like your busy racing schedule too.

i have four sisters. :) we used to run together all the time and compete in races together. threw the years each has gone in different directions with exercise - i.e. tennis, yoga, softball..etc.

i miss those days.

hold them dear to you.

Sooooooooooo once you noticed that you and I are currently tied at 7 marathons apiece you decided to pour it on and stockpile over the next 3 months?

How great! I've tried to convince my brother to run a marathon with me a couple of times, but he wants none of it. We've compromised on a triathlon next summer though!

i get to run a marathon with my twin sister (who just had the baby) in May 2011. Since her bday is saturday just like mine, it's a running themed birthday. I got her a Nathan Fuel Belt, foam roller, 26.2 sticker, and an addressed stamped envelope with blank entry form inside for the marathon!

Aimee said...

Awesome! Yay! That is going to be so much fun!

Emz said...

Foges - awesome. best. gift. idea. ever. My birthdday is . . ;) Enjoy it. May 2011 is not too far away. Amazing she's so motivated to be ready to run a marathon by then. awesome.

Super awesome sisterly love!!! That ROCKS!! YAY!!!

That's pretty cool. BTW did you just refer to yourself in the 3rd person on my blog? I think you did.

Emz said...

Patrick - Emz refers to herself in the 3rd person every chance she gets because Emz likes it that way best.

Foges said...

she was supposed to run one with me a few weeks ago but got knocked up by her husband

KovasP said...

Bummer I'm an orphan, no family to run with. Maybe you and pita can adopt me, I'll run with Peanut.

Liz said...

So awesome! My bro has never run a race with me, but he's done a number of long runs with me to keep me company. I love those runs; there's nothing for us to do but talk. Perfect. :)
I imagine those talks are even better with sisters.

Emz said...

Kovas - Peanut will take you in. She's the nice, thoughtful, caring one.

Foges - I'm glad you added the [by her husband] part. ;)

Emz said...

RWBOB - I'd take a run with my brother ANY day. Bro. Sis.
Same = Same. They both rock.

Great! I will finally have this same opp at the next St. George Marathon with one of my Sisters. She gets in every year as a Legacy runner or something like that. 2011 they have to take me - three strikes lottery rule. Wanna join us?

Emz said...

Slowmo - you bet cha! Call me "in"!

This email JUST in from BABY E.:

"I just committed to a full marathon?!!! You may have to kick me into gear and train with me too!! :) It might be more than you bargained for! I'm slow to commit--but once I do, I don't back out. I WILL do it!

...I don't know how to comment on a blog." -Baby E.

TMB - now I just need to convince her of the tortoise & hare costumes you & your sis wore are ok on a non Halloween run. ;)

AWESOME! My sister and I both ran Boston last year. We had no plans to meet up at the start or run any of the race together but by chance ended up side by side for 9 miles! Great memory! I hope you just have an awesome experience together!

BTW-I am lovin' that Frou Frou song. You're right, initially skeptical but now I LOVE it and have it on repeat!! Thanks!

Awesome! I'm an only child, but I'm trying to get one of my best friends, the one who convinced me to do my first half, to do a fall marathon with me next year. I've got her talked into doing a half, now I just have to work on the next 13 miles!

awesome job on the family run. Are you running it WITH her, or just doing the same race as her?

Do you have a number of marathons you plan on running?
