"On Fire" - Eminem

A few things that are "on fire" these days:

KATE:

If you don't know / follow Kate.

you.
should.

Why?  well there are about 874 reasons but I'll give you two.

1.  She signs up for a marathon and BQ's.  Seriously.  3:35freaking. awesome.

2.  She and this [little self-promoting] shirt of mine . . . has never felt more zen / love - ever.

Love. that.

Go get em in Chicago girl!

Three more things that are on fire . . .

* my legs.  ummmm. ouch.  The 13 mile hill workout yesterday [I'm paying for it].  My hill training . . . . yikes, not so fabulous.  Why did I do 13?

* my wallet.  [Dear Nordstrom, please stop having such insane sales.  Thank you, Emz]

* my brain.  Have not been sleeping lately.  My brain just goes & goes & goes.  I feel relaxed when I get into bed - then whammo - brain. into. over. drive.

Few other random thoughts:

* I've decided I don't want flowers on V-day.  [now we'll see if the Pita reads this blog].  Instead I'd like him to replace the empty toilet paper roll with a new one.

* I wonder how many pairs of shoes I can pack into one carry-on for a weekend trip [and still have room for clothes].  This will deserve it's own post come Monday.

* Sad to report - if I have to include running shoes. . . . . I do [huff] own more shoes than the Pita.

* I'm thinking come August, September, October, November, December . . . I'll take a little break from entering every marathon I can.

* I can't wait Four more days.  awesome.  simply.  awesome.

Happy [my favorite day of the week] Thursday!

Got
anything
[family-reading ;) appropriate]
random
you
wanna
share?!

Yeah, I thought the "Pita has more shoes" claim was a bit dubious.

Emz said...

Whatever. Not. My. Fault. My. Gait. Changes. Month. To. Month. In. Running. Shoes.

Score:

Pita: 36
Emz: 40

Random Family Friendly Item to share...I am thinking of making a black bean soup this weekend with chocolate in it.

We don't do Valentine's Day but this is a way to share it without really sharing it.

See my email... typo on the blog, GASP!

I never believed for one second that he owned more shoes than you. NOT ONE SECOND!

Funny, you and I get a long so well, H is guilty of the TP crime as well. Seriously, it takes TWO SECONDS! GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!

Matty O said...

OH, I just bought another pair of running shoes... sadly I might own more than H now (unbelievable).

I ran 5.65 miles on the TM today and I did a happy dance after. I have not been able to run more than 4 pain free since Jan 2nd.
I have never been so happy to spend a hour on the TM.

I'm getting excited about Boston--even though Im not running. I can't wait to cheer YOU on :)

I hear that there is a huge shoe sale here: http://www.shoedazzle.com/
$300 shoes for $40
Just saying...

Cynthia said...

If the shirt can provide me zen I need one right now.

I usually always have to pack a carry on with just my shoes.
On that note something random...Movers are here packing up my house while I sit and stalk blogs. I somehow managed to fit clothes and 2 pairs of shoes in just a carryon size bag that I must live out of for the next 5 days *Disclaimer: running shoes and gear have their own bag*

Kristin @NyceLife said...

Just wear a whole bunch of layers of clothes on the plane...= more room for shoes.

ShutUpandRun said...

You deserve every shoe you have and then some.

Family fun fact: I am making chocolate cake balls for VD. (not venereal disease, that wouldn't be family oriented). But wish I were going to Vegas with someone. Can you get me that shirt that says, "EMZ went to Vegas and all SUAR got was this freaking tshirt?"

Candice @ I Have Run said...

I would have expected the number to be higher =) You'll have to work on that.

Jess @ Blonde Ponytail said...

I love Kate too! I think your shirt definitely contributed to the BQ-ness (a new word)! Will be so fun to follow you both in Boston!

Double digit hill workouts! You are my idol!!!!

Julie @ Hotlegs Runner said...

I wanna see your shoe collection! =)

I already follow every Kate I come across so she's covered.

BTW - I totally stole your "line"... having a custom pace band printed and I had to pick a "saying" for the top. I went with:

Replacing the roll goes two ways ... feed him an awesome chili dinner, but before he goes to the thrown room, make sure all that's there are these little cute cardboard rolls.

If he calls out for paper, slide USA Today under the door ...

Andrew Opala said...

"thrown" should be throne! accck!

bobbi said...

Ha Andrew - if he keeps not replacing the roll, it could very well end up the "thrown" room!

I too want to see your shoe collection! I think pictures should be posted - I bet you'd need more than one pic to fit them all in ;)

Kovas said...

More filler. What's next, a shopping report for your last trip to Nordstrom?

Cats bite.

Laurie said...

Love your Valentine request that's awesome... maybe he could make you a bouquet of toilet paper?

Random fact: going to my husband's grandfather's funeral tomorrow where I will be staying at the house with all the great grandkids and having a valentine's day party while everyone else is out mourning. Weird?! I think so, but it was my mother-in-laws idea and well, I mostly just do what she says.

Emz said...

Andrew. You. Kill. Me.

Kovas. Whatever. It. Can. Be. Arranged.

Love Kate--she is a superstar and will kill Chicago!

Loved this post.

Jen said...

Kate is amazing! You are too! 13 miles of hills? Seriously, what were you thinking?
Sleeping problems? My solution: valerian root. Stinks like smelly feet but really works to calm the mind.
Good luck this weekend! You'll do great! You are my inspiration!

Rose said...

I love Kate's blog!

My random: coffee and black tea actually taste good together.

Emz said...

Jen. You. Nailed. It. My [dear sweet] mother bought me some v-root.

I. Couldn't. Even. Bring. It. In. My. Home.

Think I need pill not "tea" form. ;)

Is it a one time re-fillage or a year long thing? Are you going to leave it empty until he does fill it? How exactly does toilet paper replace flowers? You'd better watch it. He might just get your a dozen toilet paper flowers!

XLMIC said...

Is he saying he'd replace it if only you'd remember to buy some? That's what goes on over here ;-)

I also want to see a picture of your shoe collection!

random fact: my toddler is thinking naptime blows. How wrong she is.

Random #1: I own at least 50 pairs of shoes. Bad girl...

Random #2: It's raining in Holland. Raining raining. And I had to go out for a run. Even my sports bra is soaking wet...as we speak...I figured I'll just let it dry and THEN hit the shower... Random...

I'm totally with you on the "no flowers for V Day" - I say "I want flowers, presents, and to be treated special on the other 364 days. You can have V Day off." Seriously :)

The Hungry Runner Girl said...

Seriously Kate is AMAZING!! LOVE those shirts:) Let us know what you get for V-Day ha! Hope you get some sleep. 13 mile hill workout...OUCH!!! Of course you still have to pack running shoes!!

Emz said...

Karen. Love it. Could not agree more.

Was I supposed to add my running shoes to my total?! ;)
[is the pita reading this?!]

Adrienne said...

Your going on a trip? I'm jealous. I so need a trip somewhere...anywhere!

Travis does not have more shoes than me but has three drawers of black dress socks. Almost every time he goes out of town (weekly) he forgets socks so has to buy some. Drives me nutty.

13 mile hill workout! You're amazing!

RunningLaur said...

So does that mean that you're NOT doing Tucson Marathon this year?!

ps. I totally want to do every marathon every right now. every.

Char said...

I never want flowers whether it's VD or not. Flowers just die and when you finally get around to scatter their shrivelled corpses to the wind you realise that the rotting smell in the living room is coming from the vase.

oops - did I just give away my secret that I'm a very 'ordinary' housekeeper?

Michelle said...

I'm so with you on the V-day thing - the one day there's an obligation to buy flowers, I don't want 'em!

I'm loving the Emz t-shirt pics - I need one!

Off to check out Kate's blog!

Emz said...

Char. No. You. Just. Let. Everyone. Know...
You

Rock. [but they already knew].

Adrienne. Black. Socks. Omgosh. I'll send. You. A. Photo. Of HIS black socks & we'll vent.

RL. Ummm. I may or may not have already signed up.

Kate is seriously insane, BQ with a 3:35 for your first marathon?!? Awesome!

13 mile hill workout sounds rough, nice job!

Kate is one of my FAVS and definitely one of the people I've connected with the most through bloggy land. Love her! Hoping to meet her one of these days...maybe Boston 2012. She really looks great in your shirt too!

Molly said...

I'm not a big flower fan either, but I better get chocolate.

random thing: tonight my dog almost ate my son's homework.

Caroline said...

Love Kate! just found her a few weeks ago! I don't want flowers either. I want compression shorts, very romantic I know.
random thing...did my first speedwork today and I did not die or puke. progress for me.

oh and I say running shoes do NOT count. come on.

Caratunk Girl said...

Kate rocks. So do you.

Running shoes DO NOT count. No way. It is a health/injury prevention issue. :)

DRog said...

can I have some of your cant sleep syndrome that I usually get - last week has been all sleepiness I hate it!

2 Slow 4 Boston said...

I'll tell you why you did a 13 mile hill workout... So you could complain about it on your blog. Just kidding. But, your legs are already stronger for it.

Her Name Is Rio said...

Are you sure about the shoes count? Running shoes worn for running (not casual wear) do NOT count!

Chris K said...

Personlly, I think my awesome energy rubbed off on Kate. She lives, like, 10 miles from me and then ran right by me at Surf City. I have so much awesomeness she simply reaped the rewards. It's like a contact high. You are welcome for the 3:35 Kate.

Kovas and Patrick win for funniest Commnents. Andrew 3rd. The men brought it today, eh EMZ?

Huh!?!?! What do you mean, doesnt it just replace itself, I mean, sometimes it takes a couple of days, but I swear the Toilet Paper Fairy does replace it

Barbie said...

I would like the roll changed too. I mean really how hard is that job - what else are you doing whilst sitting them contemplating the universe......lol
