Stuck Like Glue - Sugarland

So last night was the E Family Halloween Spudnut fest.  Like donuts . . . only better. [click here]

awesome.

One of my most favorite days of the year.

It was awesome to see my family.  Yes.  We all live within 30 miles of each other BUT see each other ----- no way [near] enough.  I'm sure if I moved to Seattle, I'd probably see them more.

Got a lot of photos [Thanks M2].

So we got there first.  Peanut.  was. busting.  And Nana & Papa - yea, they are her favorite.

I did it.  What you all knew I had to do.

You bet cha ---- introduce them all to my buckle.  Boooooo yaaaaaa.  Yep, it's stuck like glue.

OMGosh, I drove my family nuts before the buckle.  Man, are they in for it.

Here's Nana & Papa frying away.

The Pita was eating them faster than Nana could fry them.  So he took over.  Ummm, he was way faster.

One of the very rare times you'll see us together in the kitchen without fireworks.  Nope, no middle finger since I am not holding the camera, nice & noted.

Ya, see, I have this nephew [I actually have like 34] but here are two of them . . . .

[M1 left, Tan on right].  M1 is the "buckle hater".  He was mumbling crap every time I introduced someone to my buckle.... "it sucks", "it's ugly", "it has gold", "it's fake gold", "I could buy a better one" . . . .so I decided the only grown-up way to settle this properly was to have an abs blow contest.

Contest rules?  easy.  one person flexes the abs while the other one hits.  Whose ever hand hurts first - loses.

Awwwww heck ya, I won.  Hey M2, where were all the photos of this action?  We did get one, since my hand was still fine from the jell-o I was hitting.  What?
o u c h. ;)

His excuse, "you don't have anything over them, like fat".  Ummm, isn't that the point?!  Who's the blonde here?!

Anyway.

Spudnuts.  Yum.

Making the spudnuts.  My Bro and Y-von by far the best helpers.  Sorry, Mom.

I was pretty good at eating them though.

Pita family totals:

Peanut: 8 donut holes
Emz: 2 holes, 1 full [smothered in walnuts]
Pita: 6 full, 12 holes

Fun photo of Peanut & E2.

I think the Pita's face kinda sums up how we feel every year after spudnuts.
Full.
Silly.
Tired.
Smell like oil.
and
Can't wait until next year.
M1 - make sure your abs are ready.

Thanks M&D for this awesome tradition.  love it.

First... I love Stuck Like Glue and I'm so glad that your belt buckle is getting the recognition that it deserves!

Second... what the heck is a spudnut and why do I want one without even knowing what it is?

Third - atta girl for betting a boy at an abs contest!

Foges said...

keep eating those and you might have a layer of fat for next year!

Unknown said...

M1 is just jealous of your TOTALLY AWESOME buckle and even AWESOMER abs (yes, that IS a word)

I always thought that donuts were baked like cakes. I just discovered that those suckers were FRIED IN OIL in the last couple year. Scary huh??

Emz said...

Colleen. Just a better donut. Made w/spuds.

Foges- been eating them for 30 something years.
The key is to not stop running. ;)

Jenn said...

Ah spudnuts!!! As if I could still be hungry after all that candy.....

Looks like you have an awesome family. I'm one of 6 kids and we all live close too!

And YES-I would NEVER take that buckle off!!! Great pics!

I need some nuts and some holes. Yumm.

Buckle haters are need help. Is there a support group or 12-step program for this kind of reckless behavior? Like BHA?

Matty O said...

So Peanut and E... twins, shocked at the similarities there haha!

Great post, loved all of the angles it kept going haha.

Who in their right mind thought they could even come close to winning an ab contest with you? I mean thats like asking if water is wet... instant lose.

I will say... the buckle might be wearing out its welcome with family... I found that family does not understand us. Don't worry we get it. Honest.

Been a long while since I have had a spudnut. Much too long. The Buckle is too cool to describe, but I have a thing for the shirt you are wearing and the old Cheaptrick print/type. No man should match Abs with the EMZ! A nephew should no better? :)

Yah for Seattle! Even if it was just mentioned in passing. Yet, you know however much I miss Seattle - I always look forward to getting back to some sun and warmth.

Fun Pix!

Matty O said...

Ummmmm one more question... are you a runner?

Emz said...

Jeff- BHA. I AM loving that. Guess what he's gettin' on a shirt for C-mas!? awesome.

Matty-O - funny thing P & E are one month a part in age. and I think my family was "done" with the buckle on Oct 4th [2 days after the race]. I'm so happy SOMEONE "gets" me. ;) I hardly even "get" me. I'm a weeee bit over the top. That abs game though. . . . Other than feeling like I was going to see my spudnuts again [in babyfood like form]. . . it was awesome. M1 - is the best kid ever. love him. cannot wait for abs show down 2011.;)

Emz said...

Slowmo - old Cheaptrick print/type --- I love that. So true! I love it. "SILVER" the best CT CD ever!!

Matty-O: I might like my runner, runner, runner, runner, runner, runner shirt just the tiniest bit.

First off, lets stop hating on the north here. We have already seen upper 30's last week.

Yes, our trees lose their leaves... YES i would like to go swimming. YES, my little girl, Sophie, is the most amazing pup in the world. Although Heather would argue for Frank over Sophie.

Emz said...

Matty O - no hate. Just honestly HAVE NEVER seen leaves FALL from trees. No joke. Never raked anything that didn't crunch under my feet [meaning it had been there for a month in it's dead state] or look like a pine needle. It is "North jealousy", I have.

That sounds like a GREAT tradition! And you didn't surprise anyone by winning an abs related contest. You simply have the best!!!!

Quinton J said...

I flippin' LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this post. Can't stop smiling.

And ummm...I dont usually do this...but ummm...I want that shirt.

Jason said...

Your nephew is obviously not a follower of your blog b/c there is no way you enter into an abs contest with what I refer to in my house affectionately as 12-pack.

Yes, you have your own nickname in our house.

I need to figure out a way to include the buckle in the nickname.

Jamie said...

I want your shirt!! Looks fun (and slightly sickening with all of those donuts!).

Amy said...

I can't believe you waited this long to show that buckle off to the fam!

Hard to believe Spudnight Night has been going on for 30 years! Once a year is enough to make/eat those yummies. And for the record: "I GET you and will never tire of seeing, hearing or bragging about your buckle"! I know your sibs also feel the same way.

Anne said...

What a fun time you all have, definitely made me smile. Of course you won the abs contest :)

Love the t-shirt!!

Tell him Emz sent you. [I've just ALWAYS wanted to say that to someone.] ;)

Teamarcia said...

Love this post--what a great family! I was going to say you should wear that buckle like a headband so it could be more 'in their face' but the abs blow contest rocks!

Jill said...

Don't listen to Kovas, you can use that belt buckle for the rest of your life!!! Well, until the next one :). Love your big spudnut party!!

Anonymous said...

Only you would have an ab hitting contest with your nephew because he disrespected the buckle. Too awesome.

Thomas Bussiere said...

Nice buckle. True - He can buy a lot of buckles, but he can't buy yours. It is earned. Tell him to "belly-up to the bar" and go earn his own.

Caratunk Girl said...

I want a spudnut!! I love that you challenged your nephew to an ab hitting contest. And kicked his sorry teenage butt.

And you keep flashing that buckle all you want, I think it is pretty darn sweet!

Emz said...

Thomas - like that.

***THIS JUST IN FROM M1***

"This is M1. Christmas. we are. having. an abs. AND. arms. contest,"

My reply, "roger. doger M1. game On."

[uggg. do I have to start doing push-ups again, now?!]

Carrie said...

I was a little surprised to see the lack of costumes! Unless of course you went as a "Kick-a$$ runner", then you were covered. :)

Emz said...

Carrie - I know. Leave it to Peanut to be one of three in costume. My family is not so into costumes. . . . But you nailed mine perfectly. *** HA! I WISH!!
We all had our [BIG] parties on Saturday.

Velma said...

Love it!!!! The belt buckle is your costume - you are one tough chick!

Julie @ HotlegsRunner said...

me like THAT shirt...

and the donut! =p

Jason said...

Please don't start getting your arms ready as well. Getting to that 12 pack is hard enough.

And in addition to that the 'Guns and 12 Pack Show' is a long nickname for our house.

But in reality.....go for it and show the young-ins that you got it like that.

Patrick Mahoney said...

Any shirt that references Cheap Trick is fine by me...

Emz said...

I got the OK from P-rick?! YAY me!

Jason - I did ever. so. lame-ly. call my "guns" smith & wesson last night. See W H Y my family loves me?! ;)

Adrienne said...

Love the shirt, love the buckle, love the family fun donut making and eating. Jealous your family lives so close. Good post.

Unknown said...

Mmmm Spud nuts!

See, you only ate one(major props). I would have eaten six like the PITA did. :) I think him and I could get along in that respect.

Unknown said...

and p.s. you would beat anyone in that ab contest!

glad you made that little punk eat his words! :) Haha.

My girls were eating donuts while I read this. They are the lazy kind (Kirsy Kreme). Not as good, but they take what they can get.

And did your nephew know what he was getting into with the abs hitting contest? Obviously he hasn't seen your profile pic. You should make it into a shirt to wear to the Christmas contest. (I have to know if you've always had abs like that??)

Melissa Cunningham said...

loved all the pics! looked likea lot of fun!!! AND i love it that your nephew had a blonde moment about the abs comment...
:)

Emz said...

Kate. You are great.

DRog. Could not agree more.

Candice. Hilarious. KK = less mess. :) & making the shirts!!! Abs.....probably since I was 15 & realized they were a muscle that would actually tone-up on my body.

But, don't hate me, but if the belt buckle has FAKE gold then M1 has a point...that thing should be like smothered in PLATINUM. FOR REAL!

Julie said...

Wow, what a fun day with the family! Better yet, a day making donuts and eating them:)

Aimee said...
