"What A Wonderful World" - Louis Armstrong

My most favorite Christmas movie?

"It's a Wonderful Life".

I. love. George. Bailey.

George is:

kind
talented
loyal to friends
his sacrifices know no bounds [where loved ones are concerned]
modest
a family man
ambitious

Every year, I look forward to this movie being on TV. I will not buy it. I like to know I need to make time for it. Time to relax. Time to enjoy George and his message.

I adore watching him develop into an amazing man who HAS struggles. HAS challenges and personal anguish.

Only to discover the beauty of human generosity.

I love how he carries Zuzu's petals in his pocket.

His love for Mary. And how he can laugh at himself when he falls into the pool at the high school dance.

I love the quote by Clarence Oddbody, "Strange, isn't it? Each man's life touches so many other lives. When he isn't around he leaves an awful hole, doesn't he?"

Yesterday, I heard someone at the grocery store say, "if only Christmas could last two months." For a split second I silently, agreed. Decorating gingerbread houses. Driving around as a family looking at Christmas lights. The TV is "off" more. Music is played more [tons of Christmas CD's in the Juke-Box]. Trying to hide gifts around the house. Seeing family/relatives.

Then I fiercely disagreed and thought, "if only Christmas could last all year". We need a year full of George Bailey like moments/realizations.

This thought was swiftly followed by a woman carting me in my heels [ha, reason #814 why I wear heels] saying, "hun, you think you could get out of the aisle? Some of us are in one hell of a holiday hurry!"

Yes, by George, I think I'll keep it at the best freaking December, for now.

Hiding Christmas presents around the house was always a HUGE highlight for me!
And your dog in the photo looks almost like a christmas lamb, ala manger reenactment. I like.

Some people really know how to ruin a good moment! I like It's a Wonderful Life but Elf has to be my all time favorite. "Does somebody need a hug?" and "Did you hear that?" Just can't beat it.

That is such a beautiful picture of Peanut! That needs to be framed. Too precious for words.

It is the best Christmas show! And I'm with you...I don't buy any of the Christmas shows. There's something fun/special about having to catch it when it runs.

MO - that white fluffy thing is "chuy" [indoor Maltese, that was gifted to me by the Pita. I cried in anger when I was given it..... almost two years ago] HE IS AN AWESOME dog. Doesn't yap. No crazy barking. No Chewing up anything. I have that boy trained to an absolute T. but still ---- not a dog lover.

Mase [pitbull, outside dog]. And the non-runner. He owns whatever dog-ish heart I have. He too is wicked scared of me. But I like it this way. They don't mess with me. He jumps all over the Pita [to his face - that's pretty dang high] but never so much as a "bounce" by me.

Can You tell I'm a little proud of my [DOG] training techniques?!

Great movie!

I love that you won't buy it so you have to make time for it! It is worth watching again and again but keeping it special for Christman time makes it better.

Love it too! Stayed up late last Christmas Eve until the wee hours watching it on television with hubby. As for Louis Armstrong's What a Wonderful World -not to be morbid- but great funeral song, I think, you know, during the video recap of the person's life, just sayin'.

Love this post! It's pretty amazing during the Christmas season that people can fo from one extreme to another. Deep breathing people, count to ten... :)

Love Christmas movies. I have to agree with others, ELF is right up there at the top. 'Singing is my favorite...Make work your favorite...' and '6 inch curls, honey, 6 inches.' Hahaha. So great...

And ummm... we need to make some plans here! Meet up????

The holidays just bring out the best in people don't they?

I can't understand it. I don't understand it during the rest of the year let alone now. Supposed to be festive and loving and all I hear is woman trampled at Wal-Mart trying to get to the Snookie Doll that has high Jersey hair and an accent. I mean really? c'mon!!!!!

Stacie said...

That's my husbands favorite Christmas movie, too. I have to go with National Lampoons Christmas Vacation :) Love it!!!

Emz said...

Jason. Please. Tell me. You. Are. Joking. A snookie doll?!

I like that movie but I don't watch it every year.
I do watch elf though :)
I like to say "son of a nutcracker" often. Holidays or not it rolls off the tongue so well.

I really love that song...I didn't realize it was a movie though;)

I love that movie. I'm not sure I've seen it since college though.

Amazing picture!! Love it!

Laurie said...

Love the picture. I've seen the end of that movie a million times but never the whole thing from the start... maybe this year.

My mom used to hide our Christmas presents in random places then forget where they were only to find them later in the spring or the following Christmas... not all of them but one or two here & there.

Trish said...

You should totally come over for Christmas! Mike's family freaks over It's a Wonderful Life. We have to play a trivia game every year on Christmas day about the movie! They know every tiny detail :)

Silly Girl Running said...

I'm slowly getting into something you might call 'Christmas spirit'... Slowly, baby steps. I even considered buying a tree. Next thing might be watching Christmas movies. ;)

Another thing I like about Christmas is that it is global. We all have Christmas together, no matter where we are on our planet.

Jason said...

yes I was joking and no I am not going to google snookie doll. Don't want Karen to get on this laptop and find that in the auto-fill
