"Whatever You Like" - T.I.

Fortune cookies.

[mentally] mess me up.

Yesterday's fortunes were no exception.

The first one I opened said this:

Then the second one I opened said this:

I guess this is why they are so stingy on "one per person" at Chinese food places?!

So where does it leave me on this?

Come on . . . it really is somethin' "special".

Okay, f i n e

I'll sell it.

Soooooooooooooooooooo,

Does anyone know where I can buy a "PR"?

No?!  o k a y .

Off to Tucson.  Happy Saturday, My Friends.

did you know that I am a recovering handbag addict?
DO NOT TEMP WITH WITH THE UNSPEAKABLE.
My lovelies used to have their own room (prehusband/kid).

I guess the FC's mean get it if it's on sale :)

JL. Hmmm jury is out. I so do not need another purse but it was on a HUGE sale. ;)
But you win. I never had a purse "room".

HA!! Funny. Good luck in Tucson!

The second fortune is the most recent and thus Trumps the first fortune making it irrelevant

- Go Rock the hell out of Tucson!

- I agree with the PITA on what he more than likely told you about the bag (-:

- I immediately deleted the email you send me about the bag so my wife would not see it (Jeff needs a new bike).

- Now I need to figure out how to block your blog from her internet browser to prevent seeing the pic of said bag.

- And one more time: Rock the hell out of Tucson!

Emz said...

Jeff. I follow. hER. Blog. Annie & I email daily.
"Jeff needs a new bike"....my dead toenail he does. ;)

that's a REALLY nice purse! Believe in the #2 fortune cookie! ;p

Julie said...

Husband and I both got the same fortune on the same night right after we got up the nerve to quit our jobs and start a new business:
"You will be unusually successful in business."

11 years later, both fortunes are still taped to my monitor at my desk where I still work at our unusually successful business :-)

Good luck in Tucson! I say if you PR, you get to keep the bag. And if you don't, maybe just keep it as a consolation prize!

"EMZ is gonna rock the SH** out of Tucson"

Smash it like a mens BQ.

Tucson...sorry

I jump online real-quick to wish you luck and this is waht I get?

EMZ!

You goooo girl!

what i think you should do to merit the purse it this... run w/the dang thing at your race and you're assured a PR baby!

rock it girl;)

XLMIC said...

Aren't you supposed to put the words "in bed" after a fortune cookie's words of wisdom? But I'd keep the purse anyway ;-)

Emz said...

Karen - love. That. You. Are so. Awesome.

Julie said...

OMG! I love that freaking handbag!! Love it! I can't control myself when I walk through Macy's....I am getting a new one for Christmas:)

Funny about the fortune messages:)

I hope that you have a great day Emily!

The Hungry Runner Girl said...

BEAUTIFUL PURSE!!! I can't wait for your race recap. You don't need to buy a PR, you've got this one:)

Kovas Palubinskas said...

So the second fortune makes more sense when you add "in bed" to the end. Hope your every dream for the race came true, except for the firemen responding to your 911.

Barbie said...

Talk about contradicting fortunes - the second one sounds so much more enticing.

Quinton J said...

You knew I wasn't waitn' for no RR.
Strong race girl...Congrats.

Andrew Opala said...

Go EMZ go!

...Barbie... said...

um. that 1st fortune. yeah. i had it and my 1st thought was "sooo are they trying to tell me NOT to buy that marc jacobs bag?!"

Quinton J said...

ummm...yeah...I'll take 2nd in my age group any day!

Stacie said...

I agree, you should go with the most recent fortune :)

GO EMZ!!!!

Her Name is Rio said...

Hope you had fun in Tucson!
I think you have the right to choose which fortune to follow....

Pam said...

Would you hurry up and tell us how it went today already?!?!

Okay, okay. TEN American dollars. You're breakin' my balls here. haha

I can't bring myself to spend a lot of $ on purses. My friend M bought a new Michael Kors bag and wallet while we were in Vegas. She was torn between the LV and the MK but decided to go with the MK because those are her initials. She said it was a sign. LOL I'd like to have one of those, too, but I'm kind of a fan of paying the mortgage.

Now, seriously, get your butt back here and tell us about today!

Silly Girl Running said...

Just pretend you never opened fortune cookie number one! ;) That solves it. ;)

Emz said...

I. Sucked.
Grouchy. Sad. Disappointed.
3:26.
And more sore [today, by far] than my 50 miler. ?! WTH?
I was smiles by finish line.

I.
Am

Killing.

January RnR. That's all. I. Can. Say.

Quinton J said...

Um...actually you did amazing. You blazed the first 10k...and you were right on point at about the half. We all know that the last part is where the unicorns are. 3:26...there is nothing sucky about it...and you should not feel grouchy or sad or disappointed with this race at all.

get some rest...you've got a few more killer training sessions to squeeze in before January. You have a crazy advantage now that you have another race so close...and I know and YOU know that your PB is waiting for you to pick it up at the finish line in January.

Again...you did awesome Em...nice work.

DRog said...

Agree with Q you did great.

Anytime you get a PODIUM FINISH you are not allowed to be grouchy crabby in any way! Nice 2nd in your AG! podium in a marathon is HUGE!!!!!!

I'd say you actually overcame huge adversity with that bib number you had:)
Now that it's over, fess up....what this marathon was really about was getting your tick sheet 1 more than mine :)

1month!

D

Caratunk Girl said...

I just wanted to mention, you are supposed to follow whatever fortune cookie you read with "in bed". They often make more sense that way...Or not.

Black Knight said...

You can buy a PR giving your bib to a faster runner! If it is possible to be faster than you.

Big Daddy Diesel said...

LOL, can those two fortunes contradict each other any more!!

As for your AZ question, well.... ummm... I usually visit at xmas time, def not between the months of may thru sept (do you blame me), so I wont be in AZ till next holiday season.

Of course, I can can be bribed into racing, how about a half ironman, I will do the 56 mile bike and you can run the half mary and we just have to find a swimmer.

Andrew Opala said...

second place in your AG!

just amazing ... but expected that you would be at the top

you are an inspiration

Lindsay said...

Oh fortune cookies. Most days, I think they are ridiculous, but one day this summer, the BF and I went out for dinner, and his fortune cookie fortune said "We are very happy together". :)

Holy Cr@p, you have a blog title from the Smiths? Another running 80's music fan...can't be true. Nice follow up with They Might Be Giants. I will have to go through your older posts to see some other titles; there must be a "Go" or "movement of fear" Tones on Tails (although that may be better for SUAR).
