Addressing the "Cherry on Top" demons in my brain

NON - T. M. I.
You've now, officially, been warned.

So I've been tagged High-five times for the "Cherry On Top Award".

This one freaks me out.  Here comes a whole lotta' TMI.

To everyone else it seems to be quite simple:

RULES:

1. Answer this question: If you had the chance to go back and change one thing in your life, would you and what would it be?  [this is the "FREAKS me out" part]

2. Pick 6 people and give them this award. You then have to inform the person that they have gotten this award.  [still the slightest bit freaky because I have no idea who has/has not gotten this already. . . . .Andrew & Rae aren't you guys the graph/chart lovers!?]          p r o j e c t !      [said in your best "Clueless" {movie - for you non-blondes}voice]

3. The third and final thing is, thank the person who gave you the award.
Completely easy - I can handle that.
Thank you!

**********************************************
I know.  I know.  It's not that hard Em.
But it is.  This is such a fully loaded question.  I'd honestly, rather run 50 miles uphill than answer this.

THE QUESTION:
If I had the chance to go back and change one thing in my life, would I and what would it be?

Now I'm sure most people [not you, but someone else] thought of something that was an easier read.  Less kool-aid drinking, getting fit at an earlier age, less partying, better friends . . . . again ALL great answers but mine is not one of those or even remotely close to any of those [probably more along the lines of awkwardly inappropriate or unacceptable AKA: TMI].

And "no" to those of you that "know" me.
I've never told a soul [not one] about this.  Never will.  No need.  It wouldn't change anything.  As the Pita would say, "It is what it is Em."

What I will say . . . . . .

I embrace Regret.
I'll call it what it is.
I'll learn from it.
I'll help Peanut learn from it too.
That I have her back.
Then I'll move beyond it.
However, I will not ignore it or pretend that I don't have any.
As I believe, once I do, I [may] be bound to re-live them.  And once was enough for me.

Oh and Jamoosh, I don't do "fashion don'ts".  I have no fashion [related] regrets.  I only wish I could find freakier heels for church on Sunday than these.
Too tame.

I think I've been drinking the kool-aid! I actually understand what you wrote about regret and it's quite poetic!

Emz you have 218 followers! do the random.org thing on your list and hand it out! Or don't - up to you!

I still giggle like a school boy when I see that profile picture.

(P.S. yes, I put horses - subliminally - into that chart on my website. I did it to see who can spot those things - made a note it was you!)

YAY. Andrew --- your comments make me smile. Love it.

I'm off - - I've got some random.org to do. ;)

Damnit! I go two of these and I was going to give one to you but now you've already got one. Our anniversary is coming up and I was hoping this would pass as a gift but now I'm going to have to think of something else. Ughhh. Maybe I can make you your own award, a belt buckle on top award, it would only make sense to you. LOL

Don't tease me Allie.
I need the special stupid human award.

Well written, and not a cop-out either.
And while the shoes are nice, why go tame? Live it up.

Love the shoes, tame or not.

Great answer, and very eloquently put. I'm impressed and a bit amazed at those who are able to look back at their lives and say they truly have no regrets. I certainly have my share, but regretful things can ultimately help shape our lives for the better as well if we use them to find the right path.
Even Sinatra had regrets, and that guy was hard as nails.

You are such an amazing writer and have such a wonderful way of putting things down on paper (blog posts). :)

I really like your answer!! now, my answer was the cop out answer... "i wouldn't change a thing" even though i do believe it lol ;)

also, I LOVE THOSE SHOES!!! I have a secret shoe fetish that I never act on (ok, a couple pairs) but usually not because of my inner voice always telling me to save my money because I'm a poor college kid lol... go me! ;)

what a refreshing perspective! it is all too true that too many spend time focusing on the regrets instead of taking those experiences as part of the foundation of who they are...it's like pulling a thread on a sweater, take THIS one event away and what else in the fabric of your life would unravel? or become lost too?
One line I love (cliche~I KNOW, but...) I rather look back on my life and regret the things I DID do than the things I DIDN'T do!

ps those shoes are sic! in a good way :)

I love what you say about regret, and about teaching your little one. Many people don't make that connection, but our experiences make us even better parents than we would be with those experiences.

As for the shoes, leapord print stilettos are perfect for church (but they must have a white background so they are more attention-grabbing). I am an expert on slightly inappropriate shoes at church, family functions, and in the workplace :)

I love what you say about regret too. Not to sound like I am copying everyone else or anything.

Those shoes are a riot.

I read this last night right after I bought a chocolate shake with a cherry on top. :-D I'm not surprised you were nominated. Go, Emz!

Nothing wrong with those church heels!!

Happy long weekend!

I am right with you on your answer to question 1. I am definitely not a person who can say she has no regrets... but I am the person who'd probably deflect and say something like "I regret my style choices between the ages of 11 and 17; changing that would be a priority if I could hit REWIND."

Thanks for this post :)
