"Danger Zone"

So the Pita & I had a little chat about this last night.

I was thinking [well hoping] the conversation would end with a feeling like this:

But, errrr, ummmm, it kind of went down more like this:

But it was the bigger guy with the fist all mighty in the air.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maverick[Emz]: Tower, this is Ghost Rider requesting a fly[100 mile run]by.

Air Boss Johnson[Pita]: That's a negative, Ghost Rider, the pattern [calendar] is full.

Then something like this was added: [you'll have to put the words in the right order]

 . . . . . "  I'll   you   be   we'll   running   can   compare   Vegas   in   me   4pm   while   at   call   gambling   anniversary   stories  .  "  . . . . .

He really has been a freaking trooper

I mean . . . . 6 marathons in 9 months + crewing one 50 miler.   I am grateful.

But the JJ100 is on the calendar for 2011.  You bet cha.

There is nothing like a good support team that makes the athlete/marriage great!

Obviously you'll be gambling anniversary stories in Vegas until 4pm while running and comparing something. Was I right? This is too hard.

Did someone say VEGAS???

I always interpreted Maverick and Ice's trash talking as flirting. Made me feel uncomfortable. :-D

Wow, 100 miles!!! Amazing.

Dammit, I hate word jumbles. They give me a headache.

Jamoosh said...

Near as I can tell you are sending me to Vegas to gamble with your savings. Can I bring Lady J?

Ed said...

Damn! You are a beast! Haha! Having another person to run things past/shut down your crazy ideas is a great thing. They keep that EXTREME mindset a little bit more reasonable and well balanced. They make insane people pass for sane ones - good things!

It appears the PITA is the ointment for your itch. 2011 is not that far away.

I think my sister and your PITA are in the same boat together! I am (usually) not permitted to sign up for any races without her permission (we live in the same house and she babysits for me when I run/race). If it weren’t for her telling me NO I would probably have a race every single weekend and be physically worse off them I am now!

Laurie said...

That really is a great picture... the one of you & PITA too. :)

I hear next year's race will be WAY better than this one anyway. Happy early anniversary, hope it's memorable... for both of you... at the same time... in the same place. :D

Just like a good Hollywood movie - happy ending - boy gets girl!

PITA is starting to look like a nice guy - and I really like the dog smelling death comment.

The big guys have to win some days! Anyway that's what I'm hoping for me.

Best TG quotes ever:
Wife "Goose--take me to bed or lose me forever!!"
Goose "Show me the way home honey"

2nd place
Slider "Goose whose butt did you kiss to get in here?"
Goose "The list was long, but distinguished"

3rd place
Maverick "Slider...(sniff, sniff) you stink"

Answer:
"At 4pm I'll be in Vegas gambling, you can call me while running, we'll compare Anniversary stories"

Do I win!?

100 miles! Awesome!

awww who'd have thought endurance sport would be so romantic :) All that sweat and dirt and he's still your number one fan :)

you have me intrigued by the pickle juice...i'm off to research :)

Matty O said...

Loved the picture at the end. Really shows a lot more than can be told.

He is a good man.

Can't you find another 100miler NOT on your anniversary?!

Good luck twisting his arms here.

Emz said...

Matty-O -- you are sick. An afternoon comment?! ;)
Thanks. I am loving this photo. The only Hubby I saw crewing for his crazy wife. :)

Another 100.... You bet cha. Shawna just sent me a list. Pita & I shall "agree" on one here shortly. ;)

Get better!!

I think Top Gun is by far one of the best movies ever... and for you to incorporate it into this story... even better!

:)

Great picture! He must be a keeper!

i JUST watched that movie last night! My favorite line:

"Your body is writing checks IT CAN'T CASH!"

I see that as so true for us crazy endurance crazies.

And now that you are going for the 100 miler, write yourself a BIG ole check!!!!

Excited for ya!

Yup, that sounds a lot like a few conversations I've had with my dear husband, but it was in reference to r2r2r. He was trooper enough, but has thrown in the towel. Even after promises of a "romantic getaway". And correct me if I'm wrong (which I know I'm not), but aren't you the one that said endurance challenge does not a romantic getaway make? And I heart that picture of you.

Silly Girl Running said...

Now I'll have to watch Top Gun again! And did I hear Vegas? Did I?

Laura said...

so you got buy in for A 100 just not THAT 100? I'm so confused! :)

obxbchgrl said...

Emz, you're totally nuts! Still, I wanna be just like you when I grow up. Crazy enough to get out and run 50 miles against horses and then decide to run 100.

Run on, Emz.

Glad other people know the quotes fromt his movie. This morning CB asked me for something and I sayed "Negative, Ghost Ride the pattern is Full". She said "what?!?" and stared at me blankly.

This post made my day.

Petraruns said...

LOVE that photo. What a guy! I think he's earned Vegas. And hey honey - save something for 2011!

RunningLaur said...

Sounds like a fair compromise... even if you didn't win :)

and I tend to succumb to peer pressure, so if you're looking for JJ100,2011, maybe just maybe. Maybe more than maybe.
