"More, more more" - Andrea True

IRONDIVA

"tagged" me for this "fun food tag".

So here's the dirty. dirty.

1. If you could eat anything without any health repercussions or guilt, what would your meal be?

bread pudding, carrot cake, smothered mashed potatoes . . . with a "chaser" of pickle juice.

2. If you could meet anyone living or dead who would it be and why?

Grandma & Grandpa E.  "Ummmmm, ya so where exactly did you put all my Dad's 1948 baseball cards?
3. Why did you start blogging and what did you expect when you started?

In all honesty, as a journal. I dislike [hand] writing things and I hate scrap booking. This way I can type [at a snails-pace] and insert photos without all the paper, glue, stickers all over my house.  I expected nothing.  Truly.  Actually thought my account was a "private" one until I received a comment from someone I didn't know saying my shoes [I had posted about wearing to church] were "inappropriate for church".
4. What is the one book you could read over and over again?

"Mama, do you love me?" --- About a little Alaskan girl who thought she had been soooooo bad.  Nope, not written by Bristol Palin.

5. If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?

Spain. Not completely sure why. But  n o w  that I know Spain is NOT in Mexico, I'd like to go there. Nothing against Mexico, just have already been there PLENTY of times.  My MIL lives in London, so Spain seems totally doable.

6. If you could have a TV show on the Food Network, what would it be?

Husband VS. Wife cooking competition.  "I [sooooooo] cook better than you!"

7. What was the best meal you ever had?

At home: My signature birthday dinner my mom made me every year: marinated flank steak, mashed potatoes & gravy, corn, jell-O [uggg, yes, seriously] mixed with whipping cream, homemade rolls [with slabs of butter].

Dining Out: Morton's. Fillet Mignon, grilled asparagus, sauteed mushrooms

close second

Sushi: tuna, yellowtail, hana pride

8. Who has been the greatest influence on your love for food and learning to cook?

My Mom. without. a. doubt. Some of my fondest memories involve: my mom, food & our kitchen. Waking up 6 out of 7 days to a hot breakfast . . . awesome.

Walking in from school to the smell of fresh baked bread . . . even awesome-R. Red velvet cake on my birthday . . . bliss.

Here are my tags - no tag backs. hehehehee

1.  Caratunk Girl --- this girl.  is awesome.  just completely awesome.
2.  Carly - If you do not follow her currently.  you.  are. missing.  out.  hilarious.
3. Adrienne - i. adore. her.

You are making me sooooo hungry right now! Can be a future guest of your future hubby cooking slamdown food network show! I just read the previous posting as well - WOW EMZ! I have one thing to ask - ru or were you brought up LDS?

Bread pudding is the best hands down.

"inappropriate to wear to church" --wouldn't it be interesting if all of peoples faults showed up in a physical manner for all the world to see. For example if the "holier than thou" people suddenly had a jacked up halo that was somehow connected to their head just to let people know they are better then the rest of us.
Did I just say that aloud? I've been on one today! Don't believe me, ask Q.

Spain seems cool. Keep working on that Rosetta Stone.

Thanks for the tag. I adore you too!

Your mom sounds way awesome.

Spain is amazing, but I must share my humble opinion with you that you must go to Portugal as well or instead. I spent my 2009 summer studying in Spain with weekend trips all over Spain and one to Portugal. Best weekend trip of the entire summer! It's beautiful there.

Anyways......

As I sit here at work reading this during a conference call when I should be home eating dinner with my family - you're killing me with all the food callouts.

You had me at Jello. (Pun so bad it's good)

Good call on the mashed potatoes, with plenty of butter. Plus, you can mold them into the shape of a butte!

I like your mom already! and that red velvet cake! Hypnotizing!

Pickle juice? I thought my husband was the only one who liked that stuff.

Food seems to be the center of so many happy memories. I still remember the favorite meal my Mom made for me every year. Spare ribs with roasted potatoes and baked apples. Oh, and of course, home-made rolls. Dessert was Spumoni cake with home-churned vanilla ice cream. Mmmmmm, I think it's time to eat!

Let this convince you even more (4 is a great number, by the way):

I kept a blog while in Spain too so I wouldn't have to call my family all the time.

(I think I'm going to try hugging the kickboard, but I didn't know what to do with my face. Do I leave it in the water? Do I hold it up out of the water? ..Yeah, I know. I have issues.)

Hey, thanks for sharing. I did point one thing out that backs up my assessment of cable television now. Your cooking show? Husband vs Wife. It seems like every show on tv now is about competition. Eating things with out health repercussions, seems I do that now all the time. lol. Take care, and have a great week end!

Jennifer said...

Ha ha great post- I love sushi and living in Mississippi I have had some dang good bread puddin'! Cheers!

Jen (Triathlete Within) said...

oooohhhh! Great post! I also love Carrot Cake, Pickle Juice, and SPAIN!! Such a great place!

Johann said...

I’ll eat carrot cake three times a day if I could. What is(was) better than the special birthday meal just for you.

Emz said...

Johann - no raisins, right?! ;)

DRog said...

You wear inappropriate shoes to work?!!

Marlene said...

Homemade Birthday dinners are the best - hands down!

Big Daddy Diesel said...

We are two peas in a pod, EVERY year I have the SAME bday meal with the SAME BDay type of cake, I EVEN have a Bday plate. I wont celebrate otherwise.

Emz said...

BDD - how did I leave out the plate?! We did/do that too. Is yours red as well?!

suzy@happywith13.1 said...

I gotta see these shoes that were inappropriate for church! They must be awesome :)

Candice @ I Have Run said...

I just became a bread pudding addict in the last year. Hadn't ever had it before.

Love the picture.

And the shoe comment is too funny. I'd like to think Heavenly Father has better things to worry about than your choice of shoes, especially since you are wearing them AT church.

I win in the cooking department... you wouldn't even stand a chance.

I LOVED 'Mama do you love me?' !!! That book was so great. the only problem was I started asking my mom all sorts of questions like "mom, would you love me if I was a murderer" or "if i was a robber" or "if I was gay?"

That last one came in handy though! Haha.
