"Scar Tissue" - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Not sure why that band came to mind today?!

Hmmmmmmm.   Weird.

Anyway........my Thursday "numbers" post.

1 - # of injuries incurred on today's run [outside......gasp......] this is what happens when you are pulling your dog the last 1/4 mile and don't see that "speed limit" sign.

24 - # of M&M's I ate off of Peanut's Gingerbread house [for breakfast] she made last night.  No I was NOT the one counting.

13 - # of "Mad-Libs" we did yesterday at Border's.
10 - # of days until the Tucson Marathon.

45 - # of days until RNR AZ Marathon.

58 - # of days until I run the ARR Marathon with my sister!!

22 - # of days until the Pita's family arrives.

18 - # of days they'll be staying.

3 - # of family members arriving.

3 - # of family members arriving that I adore.

22 - # of shopping days I have left to buy gifts [for these members].

4 - # of shoes I've bought for myself in 7 days.  Don't judge.

90 - the percentage off I got these babies at.
40 - dollar amount paid after 90% off.

2 - days until we get our Christmas tree.

0 - # of "running" related ornaments I've found for my tree.

7 - stores I've looked in for one. [and the ones on eBay . . . are not nice]

44 - number of cycling ornaments I have found.

100 - percentage I am sure I'll be "taking up" cycling starting February 1, 2011.  So I'm buying the 44, ones I've seen along the way.

1 - # of cuts I have on my tongue.

0.044 - percentage chance, I'll actually share how I managed to do it.

I can't wait until tomorrow's post. Because I BELIEVE in that 0.044 chance!

Matty O said...

you left quite a bit to the imagination there haha.

Why February 1st for biking?

Emz said...

MO- I have three marathons in 5/6 weeks. Last one is 1/29. With my luck I'll fall off and break my toe ;) but then there's Boston in April ...... But I can't wait for that to be over to start cycling. I. love. It.

Matty O said...

Oh, and who said Gingerbread houses needed M&Ms anyways? Obviously you were just ensuring that the structural integrity of the ginger roof was upheld by removing the M&Ms!!!

Emz said...

MO - seriously. Plus....she hates m&m's which is why it was allowed. Wait....who wears the pants in my family?! ;)

Melissa Cunningham said...

you really are a machine.
3 marathons in 5/6 weeks?
you totally rock!
oh and yeah i agree with matty o in regards to the structural integrity of the gingerbread house...

I'm with Jamoosh! That was a tease for the next post if I've ever read one!

can

not

believe

you do NOT have any running ornaments on your tree!

Jason said...

Thrilled to see that you like the family members b/c my first thought was are you kidding me all that time with family members....shoot I don't even like to be around myself for that long.

And well you can get a cut on your tongue from dragging the dog and not seeing the street sign and then falling down and biting your tongue. It is conceivable and you did leave us a clue just like Colonel Mustard in the Kitchen with the candle stick....duh!!!!!

Emz said...

Shelly. I have one. One. Shoe. But it's lonely. Where did you buy yours?!

Julie @ HotlegsRunner said...

I'm with you on the shoes. We can never have enough. when will the men ever understand? LOL ;p

Emz said...

Jason. Unfortunately. This one....I can't even blame on my dog. :(

"0.044 - percentage chance, I'll actually share how I managed to do it."

So you're saying there's a chance!?

Marlene said...

Hot shoes! Those were made for you. And 90% off... well they were practically FREE!

MMMMM I can't wait to make a gingerbread house. My GF has a decorating party closer to Xmas and we all get together to eat candy, have a few drinks and GOSSIP. Maybe some decorating too...

Anonymous said...

Holy Crap I've been out of blogland awhile, you are a marathon machine!

My Guess: You cut your tongue on a piece of hard sugar on the Gingerbread house that was affixing the M&M to it!

Anonymous said...

and I'm sorry, you've been a machine, but that's alot of marathons in a super short time!

Emz said...

Marlene - a gossip party is sounding pretty geat right about now. ;)

Kovas - stop drinking the kool-aid. You are a clever little bugger though. All the layers must be helping?!

Emz said...

Dash - I wish I could say "you got it right!!" but you didn't.

TOO normal for an Emz mishap. ;)

RunningLaur said...

Run, outside?!!?
We used to play Madlibs non-stop growing up, that brings back great memories!

Runner's Den has running ornaments - printed glass ball ones. I don't know what kind of crazy stores you're going to :)

KovasP said...

With my Peter Heater I am practically unstoppable!

Emz said...

fully ignoring Kovas.

RL - ummmm, ya I was in Nordstrom, NMarcus, Saks, hobby lobby [barf], Michaels [barf x2] & REI. I'm going to RD tomorrow!!!!!!!! THX!!

So Love RHCP

ShutUpandRun said...

So the shoes were like $10,000?

The tongue: happens to the best of us. No need to explain.

18 days of family members. No words.

Since your marathons are outsdie and it might be cold, consider a Thermajock. I heard someone has a good review on those today.

Jon said...

I LOVE this post!

An 18 day stay? Wow!

Rae said...

I've missed your blog! I am so far behind! That's what happens when I'm off work for 6 days and then busy at work for 2.

Laurie said...

Awesome shoes. You can NEVER have too many shoes, especially awesome ones.

Jen said...

LOVE those shoes!! I am on a budget so must live vicariously through others ;)

18 days of in-laws???? I would die....

Beth said...

Great list, why aren’t there more running ornaments?!? You need to stop cutting yourself!

Karen R said...

Love those shoes!

I'm wondering if you got all of those shoes to help you make it through 18 days of family... :)

That's what I do! "I have to go WHERE with your family and for HOW LONG? Well, that's going to cost you 2 outfits and 4 pairs of shoes."

Emz said...

Karen R - maybe just possibly?! I'm going to whisper in your ear . . . . "you have so "got" me to a T". shhhhhh don't tell. ;)

Karen R said...

LOL! That's right. I recognize that particular kind of shopping - I'm familiar with it :)

Good luck with your new cycling adventure! I'm going to stick with my new thing of strength training and core work. Someday I want to look like you!

Seriously, if you have advice for the core work, let me know!

Karine said...

First of all, the injury looks "nasty". I'm guessing you bit/cut your tongue, as you bit down too hard trying to prevent you from saying a "bad" word when you got injured.

Jason said...

KarenR - I don't mean to hijack EMZ's post but I did an interview with Kristin White (Ironman) and she gave me a core workout called the Bridges of Kenya.

Now I have barely been able to get out of New Jersey on the workout but it WORKS. My abs are sore but I can see them coming through already.

If you go to my blog (www.baha703ironman.com) and check out interviews for Kristin White you will see it.

It is tough but it works.....almost like a P90X commercial right there.

Emz said...

Highjack alert!
Highjack alert!

As if. Highjack away Jason.

Char said...

It's nice to see that someone else has managed to get themselves injured while running (not nice about the injury, just nice that I'm not alone). And I too would steal the M&M's off my child's handiwork when deny all knowledge.

misszippy said...

Hmmm, I've heard a few people have that song on their minds today.

You are a machine.

Love the shoes.

What the heck body part is that, anyhow?

Gingerbread house - HILARIOUS.

Emz said...

Termite- 5.5?! Alllllll the good shoes come in your size. Easy. Peasy.

Jen said...

Have you tried looking for running charms to turn into ornaments? That might work?
You are a marathon animal! Amazing!
Family for 18 days. You might be a saint as well!

Jill said...

I'm almost certain if I wore those shoes, it'd be my last day on Earth!

Do you think a belt buckle might make a nice ornament??

Was your outside run chilly today? I heard about some Thermothing on someone's blog that may be useful. Somehow.

One Crazy Penguin said...

I wonder why you're thinking of the RHCP....for some reason I think it may have something to do with Kovas? Hehe

Also, love the shoes! You and I are kindred spirits in that regard. Shoes are definitely my weakness. Especially sale shoes!

I'll keep my eye out for some good running ornaments for you!

Jess @ Blonde Ponytail said...

LOL! Red Hot Chilli Peppers...perhaps a jock warmer?! Therma jock rocks!

Tara said...

Biking rocks, you will love it! I haven't seen any cycling ornaments??? I need one!

Haha! We have made one of those gingerbread houses before and ate a ton of the candy. The house ended up looking pretty sparse.

Happy Feet 26.2 said...

I'm with Jill, if I wore those shoes, I would be posting a similar injury pic on my blog. :) (uncoordinated me)

Angie said...

Aaaaand since you seem to be offering- 8 and a halfs please. Wow. Three comments on one post. That might be a record.

Score on the shoes- nice job! I love deals!
I think I'm running ARR marathon next month too- I volunteered last year and it seemed nice and mellow- just what I'm looking for.

RockStarTri said...

Isn't cycling like riding a bike just more complicated?

Shawn said...

0.44 eh...I am guessing that dog had something to do with it. Stopped to tie your shoe, put the leash in your teeth, dog saw a squirrel or some other rodent, you tried to get a better purchase on the leash as Boots (that's the dogs name right) made a run for it..missed the leash, got your tongue instead!!! You did say it was not normal.

For what it's worth, that crap used to happen to me all the time. Made a horse out of a cardboard box as a kid (5) and rode it down the stairs...and thereby putting my bottom teeth thru my lip. When I went to my Mom and said...mooooommmm, ppeelllthhh eeelllpp mmmmmmeee, she promptly pulled my lip of the teeth, no muss, no fuss, no stitches...burned the damn horse in the wood stove that night.

Have a great Friday and I want to hear what happened along with 50+ commentors!!!

Emz said...

Shawn- holy. Freaking. Cow. You. Are. Wrong. But you really should win something....after all that. Hilarious.

Love love love your posts. Always so fun.

I'm bike shopping, too. But it's not easy to find a bike for a 4' 10.5" girl who has unusually short legs for her height. Up until bike shopping, I thought I was proportioned for my height. I guess not so much.

Amy said...

Maybe instead of topping your tree with a star or angel, you could top it with your belt buckle!

I want to make a gingerbread house. And then eat it.

Amanda@runninghood said...

Sweet deal on the Hot shoes!

Sarah said...

So fun! Glad you're going to have 3 guests you adore. :-D When I was 3, my mom threw out our gingerbread house and I ate candy off of it anyway - gumdrops. I still remember doing that. I was just so upset that we would make something with candy and not get to eat it.

Unknown said...

well now i know what to get you for christmas-
an ornament like this:
a runner girl
with sic abs
wearing a belt buckle
in high heels
dragging a dog

should be really easy to find!

:O

I am betting playing Mad Libs with you is HILARIOUS

I think the reason you're cycling on the 1st is to come for my birthday... right?? ha ha You'll have to do the tour this year with Sam and his bro's! I'll be at our aid station..

Aimee said...

You are so amazing! I cannot believe you are running so many marathons that close together! WOW!!

I've never seen any good running ornaments either. I finally just decided to make my favorite race medals into ornaments. :)

Yum...I would have eaten the M&Ms too!

I know that buying online can suck, but these two ornaments are real cute!
