It was "ONLY IN MY DREAMS"

That Debbie Gibson song kept coming to mind this morning.

Why?

I had two dreams last night.  The one I choose to share is my running dream.  I woke up at 5:31, told the Pita, "I'm feeling a little better."  His snarky reply, "Oh perfect, why don't you go run 20?".

Me: Well, "In my dream" I ran 4 and felt great.
Pita:  wait, you dream of running?
Me:  Isn't that kind of a given?

Anyway.

Went to sit up and these were glaring at me.

[they were whispering . . . please try me out . . . ]

Bad idea.

I made it this far.

[man how I wish that decimal was one place to the right. ;) ]

Amazing how freaking hard it is to run while coughing.

But what really got me was the coughing fit that lasted a straight 8 minutes.  Yes, Peanut captured it all on her iPhone in video mode [plus a few random photos at the start of it all].

All the while saying, "I told you that was a bad idea" about 14 times [each time I stopped coughing to catch a bit of air].

This girl captures me doing everything stupid.  I know she's keeping them all handy for when she's 16 and can say . . . . "must I remind you you did ______?  Do you need to see the video?"

I'm deleting those videos/photos while she dreams tonight.

Feel better soon! (the coughing picture of you is actually a really nice one - I think it captures a moment in time really well, even if it's a moment you'd like to forget!)

and I DO work at Runner's Den, it's a great job. I expect that my hours are going to be cut back to zero now that I have a full time weekday job though. We'll see how the schedule works out. I need to keep that employee discount!!

Mooshy- she is pretty rockin'.
MsZ- yes. Painful.
Sarah - I thought I was loyal to saucony. Turns out I'm 33% nonloyal. I do love the new Brooks.
Adrienne- you promise?! I really thought our first meet up could be over lunch though.
Laura- yay RD. That discount has to help!!

Those who don't hear - must feel. And is there something wrong with your right thigh in that picture?

Emz said...

Oh BDD - I sure hope you are right. Me & patience.....we don't play nicely together.

Sarah said...

Couldn't you just lay down for a few days and watch movies about running? Or would that make the urge stronger?

Get some rest! :)

Emz said...

Q- ohhh trust me I'm FEELING!! & really? Really? The rt thigh comment. Kick a sick girl while she's down?!

I see my favorite runner is fighting with her sickness.

Kiddo, just rest for a little. You are not fully through this thing. You can start recovery running when your body has packed up all this crap and started shipping it out through your lungs and sinuses.

Give your body a chance. Please.

... giddy up!

rest~and enjoy those happy happy dreams :)

Wow, you even have fabulous obliques. Even more jealous. :) A little more rest please!

I know how you feel! Getting sick can totally make a runner go crazy and want to push themselves. Don't do it! Don't give in! You'll be better in no time at all. Just rest. :)

Wow, I'm impressed your tm goes to the thousandths, very impressive...I wonder how many more miles I'd have on my log if mine did!! Rest up and feel better soon!!!

Allie said...

You do realize that you have to be alive to get that belt buckle, right?
Honey, you just need to lay down and rest. Okay, Honey? :)

Totally not worth it to come back too early, just extends the illness. That being said, those shoes do look a little angry. I have nice shoes.

First I was wanting those shoes, but then I saw the picture of you and I was like "maybe I'd rather have her stomach" LOL.

Are those Brooks? I just switched to Brooks and I am liking them so far :)

Seriously- I heart you forever for trying. Also- how do I make my iphone do video mode?

Patrick Mahoney said...

Can they put parental controls on the Iphone? Oh wait a 5 year old can override those controls now, nevermind.

OK, your Mom is back home and she may have to come over and make sure you take it easy until you are well. You hear me? I could send papa over, if my threatening doesn't work!!!

O-kay, listen...you NEED to REST in order to get better! I had bronchitis in Jan. and tried to bike and run and ended up with coughing fits that lasted so long they almost made me puke.
Now, take the running shoes off, put them in your closet where you can't see them, and lay down on the couch with some hot ginger tea.

Oh Emz! I thought you were getting over the crud. You must rest!!! If it's any consolation, you are the only person I know who can be that sick and still look amazing!!

Get better, and thanks for all the nice comments. :)

Okay, I somehow missed that last post. Pneumonia, really? And you are trying to run? Go to bed.

Your new kicks are sweet. And the running pneumonia made me laugh.

I"m sure you've read Jamoosh's post by now but that should make you feel better.

I'm cool with you only running 2.4 miles and OF COURSE you are going to cough up a lung (not literally, like Ellie thought could happen, and then she wanted me to show her a picture). It's hard to stay off the horse or treadmill for that matter. This little hiccup in your training will not slow you down. And you are now a Brooks girl! Yay you!

Anne said...

Oh dear...the talking shoes strike again. Please get your sick, but extremely fit, a$$ back to bed! ;) You'll be all better soon...sooner if you rest up properly.

Erika said...

Hope you are feeling better soon:/ Isn't it amazing the things that the kiddos get on us!

Those coughing spells can be so rough! I remember coughing so hard during a run I had to throw up on the side of the trail. Not cute.
Rest up and hide Peanut's iPhone while you're at it!;)

Petraruns said...

Go back to bed woman. Rest up those abs.

Char said...

Patience, patience. You will get better and you'll be back on the roads/treadmill before you know it.

Matty O said...

uhhhhh really all I got is... PUT SOME MEAT ON THOSE BONES GIRL! sick or not you look anorexic! We should not be able to see your rib cage and muscles sticking 2 inches out of your sides!

Who am I kidding, that is a sign of an avid runner. I am just jealous that my 200lb frame will never have that definition!
