49. y e a r s .

49. years. in. love.

Happy Anniversary to My [ok, fine . . . . . and the four other awesome off-spring's] parents.

You set the standard so high for a loving, amazing marriage.  And I am thankful.  I love the way you two interact.  Mom, I love that Dad still opens your door.  I love that you still make him amazing meals for "just the two" of you now.  [I'll totally bring my family over if you need more mouths to feed.]  I love that you run errands together. 

I love that lunch at Costco is like Dad's favorite-est thing EVER. 

I love that you support me in my crazy ideas/goals . . . . like crazy. 


I love that other than that one "dang Christmas tree" fight . . . . . I never, ever, ever heard or saw you two fight.  Nope. Never.  So while I thought that "dang tree" was for sure going to cause a divorce 17 years ago . . . . I realize how amazing it is that that was the ONLY thing I ever heard or saw.

"One dozen" - TMBG

Twelve.

1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1 = 12

[Tomorrow] It'll be one dozen.

Maybe . . .

one dozen bagels
one dozen donuts [buttermilk, please]
one dozen eggs
one dozen flowers ---- oh, yes, I like that.

One dozen years ago I married the Pita.  After knowing him for 97 days. 
[I met his Mom & sister one day before the wedding.]

It was my fairy tale wedding.  The one I had dreamt of for 21 years.

Here are a few of my favorite photos.

One [awesome] thing my mom did was to write down things people said at/about our wedding.


Ya, so ex-boyfriends aren't allowed to make "official" comments and probably shouldn't have been on the "invitee" list, says the Pita. [see white bar below].
Things I remember:

* running 13 miles, that morning.  Yes, I was crazy way back then too.
* going to see "Robert" to get my hair/make-up done.
* family rules, as in "rocks"
* dancing.  a lot of dancing.  But "happy" dancing the most.
* I wore a necklace [gasp]
* I got the ring I had been eyeing at work for the last two years [worked at jewelry store]
* loving that my dad was walked me down the isle.
* my mom & girlfriends helping me get ready.
* never getting cold feet.
* never thinking 97 days was too soon. Met AND married within 97 days.
* I loved my dress. It was the first dress I tried on.
* I only tried on one dress.  no joke.  one. and I bought it. that. day.
* That the Pita said he was glad we picked the 23rd, being that he could never forget it since #23 was on 90% of the shoes he owns.
* I remember getting to the hotel room.  He carried me through the door and we both dropped to the floor and [finally] ate.  with our fingers.  out of zip-lock bags.
* The happiness of that day
* Not a care in the world.  Not one.

[first, must give credit where it is due - thanks Amy, loved this idea]

Is roughly:

  • how many loads of laundry I've done this week
  • how many minutes I waited on hold this morning to talk to Nation-wide insurance [they are certainly NOT "on my side"]
  • how many days it will take to fix my car
  • twice as many days as "the other guys" insurance company will pay for my rental car
  • how many miles I ran this morning
  • how many credit/debit cards are in my wallet
  • how many years - I most likely cut off my parents' lives by having to raise me
  • number of years that separate Ann & I
  • how many minutes it takes to walk from our house to Peanut's school
  • how many scorpions are now in my "scorpion jar-vase"
  • how many times Peanut told me she was super bummed she wasn't home in time to go see Ashley Tisdale [backstage] with Tiff last night.
  • how many serves Peanut got over the net at last Saturday's game [yes, I count as she gets a little reward for each]
  • how many more days the Pita has to get through before his assistant returns to work
  • how much I spent on breakfast this morning
  • how many minutes I can stand to watch rugby
  • how many spud nuts I plan on eating on Halloween - [plus any she may try to sneak - no spud nuts for you - you hater!] ;)
  • how many items I need to list today
  • X 3 - how many jeans I own - - completely aware I have a problem, and I'm fine with it
  • how many cards I received [seriously] from ward members from our talks [I'm quite sure my Mom handed out free stamps after sacrament meeting]
  • the number of times I wipe my phone off each day [again, completely aware, this is odd - no need to point it out] - h1N1 - enough said.
  • the number of years it took the Pita to become a US citizen. big shout out to the people in LA who shredded his paperwork & original marriage certificate - to make us have to start the whole tiring process over again.


  • the number of years [exactly] that the Pita has made me the happiest woman ever.

"Good times - more to come". I love this man.
