My Peanut & I:
My Pita & I:
My heart is bursting with gratitude. The love I have been shown in the past 7 days is truly impossible to put into words.

"It's Time" - Imagine Dragon
Well, it's not exactly time just yet.......but it's getting close.
16 days kind of "close".
The last 30 days have been incredible.
The training has been intense.
The excitement is killing me.
[super grateful, it's not the other way around]
This is what the training has looked like the last 31 days:
I did my longest run 31 days ago:
Nothing like 8 hours on a treadmill to start your day off right. The first 6 hours I ran and text a few friends. My friends are amazing. Truly. I received no less than 100 texts while I ran [and two hilarious videos]. Grateful.
Then I watched the first hour of the Today Show.
The final hour I tried to pick up the pace a little so I would manage to get a final reading that included a "something" .44.
YES, it is all about the 4's.
My body has felt great throughout this process. I have never run this many miles in consecutive weeks before.
I know this special delivery from GNC sure helped. HOLY. SCORE!!
I love, love, love VEGA. I swear by this stuff before, during and after my runs. And the Quest Bars.......ummmmm, yes, please.
The last 24 hour treadmill run I did my highest mileage week was 89 miles. Most weeks came in around 75-80.
A few things are different this time around:
* More miles
* Vegetarian
* Training on my very own Woodway
* Better fueling
* More foam rolling
* I know what I'm in for
And. I. Freaking. Cannot. Wait.
If you would like to donate: [here]
If you would like to buy a shirt: [here]
Thank you so freaking much for all of your support.

"Today is" - Hot Potato
Today is the one year anniversary of my 24 hour treadmill run. [That link gets you to part ONE of, I think, 4 that I wrote.]
I'm sure this post will bore 99.94% of you . . . . . so my apologies.
As I've said 87 billion times:
this. day. was. a. top. three. moment.
IN. MY. LIFE.
So, today, I am writing this [in all honesty] mostly for me. [and maybe, one day, when I'm old and crusty Peanut will want to share this with her family....maybe.]
While this run raised a large sum of money for the Sojourner Center.
I am the one who benefited the most from this event.
There was something incredibly humbling about this experience.
Being the girl with the camera in her face, in the spotlight and realizing . . . . all the people AROUND me are the ones who SHOULD be getting the attention.
[kleenex break]
Yesterday, I journaled about this day [in a private journal] in an insane amount of detail. After 550+ blog posts, I've learned some things truly are better unsaidunblogged.
A few of my favorite photos from this very special 24 hours of my life.
I loved that this was held at Channel 12. Loved Scott Light. Loved Jay the camera guy. LOVED.
Love this pre-set up photo. It says so much. Dawn [who may I mention, never freaking left my side] keeping tweets/texts going. My mom, showing love to Peanut and that freaking huge 5 pound gummy bear.
Leg Love X 444.
Me with my brother.
IFLMB.
I love that when he came at 11am he asked, "so when does the next person come to run?"
Me: ummmm, never.
[so after he finished at work he drove home, got his gear.......and ran with his little sister] [must stop crying].
the literal way to "eat on the run".
How to "run with an IV that your husband is tall enough to hold".
[wasn't really needed but Channel 12 had a list of required things and my Dr. wasn't happy with my fluid loss.]
When the "CRT" thought it'd be funny to hang out with me for a while at 2:30am.
....with the women who made it all happen.
That moment when I realized . . . . . the treadmill only goes to 99.99 miles.
This moment where you ARE that happy.
...nothing like a hug from Dad.
And there's certainly nothing like a best friend. By the way, ask her about her mad straw skills.
......when you see your husband.
The best decision I ever made? HIM.
ILYMTLMP!
Until next time . . . .
[for my family, yes, Dawn, you are family]
I love you. Thank you for dealing with "emotional me" over the last 24 hours. To many this was "crazy" or "silly" --- thank you for seeing where my heart was and why this was important to me. It wasn't about me. It wasn't even about running. It was bigger. Thank you for knowing that.
I am more than thankful.
I am more than lucky.
I am more than blessed.
I am more than grateful.

"Lemon" - U2
I received this email Thursday, from a new, super awesome friend:
Emily,
My son "S" and his friend had a lemonade stand today to raise money for your run. They ran around the park with the signs that made telling everyone that you were going to run for a whole day to raise money for a shelter for mommies and kids and that they were helping out by selling lemonade. I was impressed that they were not shy and didn't get discouraged when people didn't buy. They were really happy when they did make a sale. It was a great experience for them. They are looking forward to meeting you!
"L"
w o w .
So yes, I am a slightly emotional being but . . .
the
tears
of
gratitude
flowed.
Amazing.
Random. Acts. Of. Complete. Awesomeness.
Day. Made.
Thank you so very much "L" for telling them about what I am doing.
Children are amazing.
They see [or hear about] a need and they know just how to help.
I thank you and your dear family and friends.
[one week from now.......I'll be resting soundly in bed.......and I might be wearing my new belt buckle.]
awesome.

"Are You A Hypnotist?" - The Flaming Lips
Last Monday I had the opportunity to meet with a hypnotist.
A "performance hypnotist" .
Hypnotism has always intrigued me. I love anything to do with the psyche. I would have taken all psychology classes in college if I could have.
So why did I meet with John?
Am I lacking confidence?
Do I feel worried about my upcoming run? [Did I mention it's less than 7 days away?!]
I can truly say, "no" to both of the above.
I wanted him to help mentally guide me through the day of May 6th before it even happens.
Anyone who has ever run a 1/2 marathon, marathon, ultra knows there are "peaks" and "valleys" in distance running. We can feel amazing at 13, crash at 18 and feel like new again at 20.
While I would agree some of this can be due to fueling and hydrating --- I know for me 99.44% of it is mental.
When I get to mile 13 do I say, "Yay I'm half way through!"
or
"holy crap, I'm ONLY half way through?"
Was I skeptical of what this visit would truly "do" [if, anything] for me?
HECK
YES.
Do the comments from some people who hear about this May 6th event get to me some days?
Sometimes. I am human.
And so really NOT WonderWoman:
Thanks Laurie for the photo - did absolutely freaking love that.
For 1.4 seconds after I hear some sort of negative remark [ie, is that even healthy?, that's a really odd goal, there are better ways to raise money/awareness] I let myself feel like this:
Of course, of course, I know it's the smartest thing I may have ever signed up for.
but. we. all. have. our. moments.
So I enlisted John to help me create that event [a less than great point I may reach during my 24 hour endeavour] and mentally plan how I was going to "get through" it.
As athletes, we push our bodies almost daily to get in shape and actively try to push ourselves harder.
What I KNOW I've been missing is the calm/meditation/thinking/focusing part of training.
During my volleyball years, I had experienced the benefits of "visualization". That is where we started, and I think this was the key for me to be able to put myself in a place where I could have a positive experience.
I sat there in complete calm. complete quiet. my foot wasn't bouncing back and forth. I wasn't moving/scratching my arms. my breathing was calm. I wasn't thinking about what I needed to do after this. all the calls I need to return. the items I need to ship for work.
and
that.......in and of itself.
Is. a. FREAKING. miracle.
I'm about as anxious of a person you will ever meet.
Sitting down - feels like a death sentence to me.
but for what turned out to be an hour and 15 minutes. . . . my world was calm. My brain was focused. amazing. An amazing feeling.
Meditation and quiet time are essential, they are part of the training puzzle.
Hypnosis and self talk reprogram the mind.
If you know & believe that computers can be reprogrammed, then you understand that our bio-chemical computer can be reprogrammed too.
Thank you. John.
If would like to contact John, feel free to do so: 480.273.8798
Have any of you ever worked with a "performance specialist", "sports hypnotist"?
Please share.

"People Helping Other People" - Barney
Yes, so Barney has a song I like, I'm totally okay with admitting that.

Remember that day?
No?!
Let me refresh your memory . . . This post: [here] .
"help me, help me, help!" she [I] said . . .
Within minutes I had a comment from Michelle. "I'm sending you an email."
She contacted her neighbor Tom [this man is incredible. absolutely. incredible].
who
contacted quite a few friends/co-workers/business partners.
who
contacted a regional manager
who
contacted the regional manager in my area
who
contacted a facility [Athlete's Performance] who had these treadmills
who . . .
will be donating two treadmills for approximately two days.
A M A Z I N G.
I don't have the words to express my gratitude. People helping people they don't even know. Whom they have never met.
I. Am. Grateful.
And it gets even better . . .
These treadmills are simply the best of the best.
Woodway Treadmills.
Their slogan: "For The LONG Run"
Could. not. be. MORE. perfect.
Michelle, Tom, Ben & Marc.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
I. am. so. ready. for. this.

Even the box it came in was pure awesomeness.
And look at this:
Some Run Emz love on the beach in St. Martin.
Freaking. Love. That.
And

"Help!" - The Beattles
I won't even beg for your donations in this post, promise.
[but you know you can always hit that "d o n a t e" button at any freaking time.]
After weeks of attempting to get a treadmill company on board for this run, I am facing HUGE disappointment. My NordicTrack people stopped communicating and other manufacturers and gyms seem to have all kinds of hoops to jump through. (Remember, I run on a treadmill---don’t jump too great).

a
y,
does anyone know of a willing manufacturer, gym or corporation that might want to have their mill on TV, advertised, adored and praised on my 24-hour run?
Anyone want to send emails to companies [cough* NTrack* cough] on my behalf?
I do have some backup mills, but for an endurance run like this I.Want.NEED. Great.Treadmills.
I will need two, because I have people paying to run with me [suckas ;) ]for short, varying lengths of time.
Your help would be greatly appreciated!

"This is 50" - 50 Cent
Done.
And it's all because of Dawn.
You see I was really, really happy with this . . .
Her text came back saying this:
D: Whew hew!! But I know you got 5 more miles in ya!!
Me: [thinking . . . wait what?!] but time is not on my side.
D: Focus, relax your shoulders, chin down. you. have. time. Just don't do your hair after you shower.
Me: [emoticon entered --- thumbs up]
D: You got it. 50 will be HUGE!
Me: you. freaking. rock.
What an awesome friend.
My mom's text - well was a loving Mom's text.
My mom: ...please stop .....
Me: I'm not stopping. sorry.
The Pita's call when I was done . . .
Pita: How far did you run?
Me: ummmmm fiddy.
Pita: what? It sounded like you said fifty.
Me: yep, I did.
Pita: [parental advisory warning] you are an a$s for doing that.
Me: hey! thanks!
In pita talk - that's a way HUGE compliment.
Then the best thing ever . . . . . .
My. freaking. awesome. dad. . . . . bringing by 20 pounds of ice when I was at mile 49.
Thank. you. my. dad!
Happy Hump Day!
5 days until Boston! [but really, who's counting!?]

"Bow Chicka Wow Wow" - Mike Posner
Bow Chicka Wow Wow. Just saying that makes me happy.
Okay, I'll refocus . . . . here we go.
The numbers - the [last weeks runnin'] numbers:
Monday: 16.5
Tuesday: NADA
Wednesday: 41.44
Thursday: 7
Friday: 10
Saturday: 15.75
Sunday: NADA
Totals: 90.65 - I'm rounding up to 91.
I signed up for dailyMile thanks to JL of "Miles, Muscles & Mommyhood" . I love it.
I love the donut stat. I burned 55.65 donuts. So Saturday the Pita brought me one from Dunkin Donuts, so I technically, only burned 54.25 [Peanut's looked better than mine. ;) ]
Fun weekend!
My car got it's first ever decal. Like ever. ever.
Never, have I put a decal on my car.
Self promoting license plate ------- you. bet. cha.
Decal ---- No.
But I freaking love this . . . .
funny. if. you. buy. a. HK. you. get. a. "free". sticker. So. thoughtful.
Now, I just need a chance/time to go shoot it. Hmmmmm. Target practice while running on a treadmill anyone?
Our Cactus, finally bloomed.
b e a u t i f u l !
I got to run in my sweet green compression socks.
I've only run in them two times. Usually save them for after runs. Note to self . . . need to get those shoes dirty.
Made awesome pancakes with Peanut on Saturday.
Happy. Happy. Day.
My Sister "Happy" convinced her Sunday school class to pose for this photos of them in their new "Run Emz" bracelets. Yep, there are bracelets now too.
Most. Of. them. Look. Happy. ;) Peanut loved all the "Beiber-like" hair-do's.
And I made the most awesomly jacked up recipe for protein bars ever. Trust me you don't want the recipe but I love them. GF & DF & loaded with all sorts ofcrap crazy amounts of protein.
Yes. they. may. taste. a. little. better. than. they. look.
Boston
in
7
days?!
crazy.

Fun weekend!
My car got it's first ever decal. Like ever. ever.
Never, have I put a decal on my car.
Self promoting license plate ------- you. bet. cha.

But I freaking love this . . . .
funny. if. you. buy. a. HK. you. get. a. "free". sticker. So. thoughtful.
Now, I just need a chance/time to go shoot it. Hmmmmm. Target practice while running on a treadmill anyone?
Our Cactus, finally bloomed.

GF & DF & loaded with all sorts of
Yes. they. may. taste. a. little. better. than. they. look.

"Just Can't Get Enough" - THE BEP
We interrupt NCAA basketball viewing to bring you this post.
Yes, it was close [U of A win] but I'll take it.
Caroline - come on! Duke played Hampton [they freaking better kill a team that's ranked 16].
Okay.
So today was long run day.
How long? [Thanks to MO - this guy should be a coach].
This long:
Which meant I needed ice. It's 90 degrees here today. I can't even ice in my pool any more. sad. sad.
So - where do you go to buy ice when you are smelly, sweaty and don't want to run into any one you know?
you.
bet.
cha.
I'm lovin' it.
a w e s o m e !
What's even awesome-R . . . .
. . . . .
Getting to have a girl's night t o n i g h t .
just
me
and
my
Peanut.
Ohhhh and remember this from yesterday?
Here's what I found on one of our toilets last night . . . as her reply . . .
She got the "green" water part right too.
"Mom, it's the right kind of peA green."

The RunEmz journey on a treadmill is quickly coming together.
This distance has become a "training run" and. it's. freaking. awesome.

Since 1977, Sojourner Center has provided shelter and support services to thousands of individuals affected by domestic violence. Through empowerment families discover hope and have the opportunity to build a new future . . . .
free
from
violence.
As the nation's largest domestic violence shelter, Sojourner Center is a tireless advocate for domestic violence victims and survivors. With the continued support of the community, Sojourner Center can help women and children overcome the impact of domestic violence . . .

"No Hands" - waka flocka flame
Life feels like it's been a freaking roller coaster. Not really an up & down roller coaster but more like the screwdriver-ish twisty ones.
And
I'm
99.94%
loving
it.
Each day seems to come with a new set of ideas & plans.
Happy. Emz.
Sunday - I got to see my 3 sisters & 1 brother [each with their personal crew{spouses, children}]. Awesome.
Peanut - finally bit into her 5 pound gummy bear.
Then she rocked it to sleep.
Then, I read all about Gummy Bears in my RW mag.
Guess what else I found in RW:
You. freaking. bet. cha.
Love
me..
my
pickle
juice.
Yesterday, Peanut and I went to see "Body Worlds" at the AZ Science Center.
Was. amazing. no photos were allowed but if you see this exhibit come to your town. you. must. go.
We stayed a while after and did the other "regular" activities.
Loved this photo......it's the two of us "meshed" together.
And f i n a l l y ,
want
to
know
where
I'm
running
[the little 24 hour thing]?
Here.
Cannot. wait.
Right at the news station.
I'm
officially
not
sleeping
and
I
love
it.
Two months from today. I'll be sore as heck. And. loving. every. moment.
Happy
Tuesday!
